I think it depends on the series and that type of story, where it goes, how they make it work and also - how many seasons they've been assured of. Too often shows fall away because they are going season to season and feel the need to rush it each time *in case* it's the last one.
Knowing BB is only going 5 is great. It's a borderline TV show/movie and wouldn't benefit at all from going past 5 seasons.

Did they ever release the "mini episodes"? I heard they were going to be provided to cover the large gap between seasons, but could never find them when I looked (admittedly, i didn't look very hard)

I've got the S1-3 extras (or minisodes) from my "gathering" of the series, and the 5 S1's sitting on my iphone to be watched

Ep 8 was good, without going into too much detail I loved that entire "sequence."
But ep 9 finally moved the story along as well, at least a big jump to bigger things coming.

Finished! All up to date now. Started.. watched S01 E01 to S04 E09 in 4 days! Brilliant show!
Season one and two were great - season 3 & 4 are still great quality but the story has progressed to a true "Good for TV" state where as S1 and S2 were more believable as a story. Still really enjoying it though. Can't wait until the next ep.
