I agree AK. I think initially it was funny on Daves post and I'm just as guilty as the rest. :D

Unfortunately the dribbled (literally) overflowed into other posts that it became a pain in the rectum. :(

Therefore I have stopped posting one liners on here solely for the purpose of padding. I will however post a one liner where it is necessary, IE as a thank you, or something of that nature. :)

I just watched Rounders, have to agree it's a very good movie.

I'd have no problem recommending it to anyone even slightly interested in poker.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Just watched Rounders and really really enjoyed it.
I can see why you all rambled and raved about it.

It is hard to comment without spoiling it for others..

However can't believe it is as old as it is.. :)

I watched this for the first time yesterday. I already posted my thoughts elsewhere, but thought it'd be good to place them in the appropriate thread.

Acting: Awesome. Everyone did a really good job (although Gretchen Mol felt a little flat at times). Malcovich's accent came across as a little cheesy, but it wasn't a huge concern. Special mention must go to Edward Norton, who played his character really well - but then again, he's good in anything he does.

Plot: I've seen worse. It all came together a little too nicely near the end (bullsh*t the professor would give Mike $10k that easily) but it kept me enthralled. And you always knew Mike was going to get the money back, but to me it sorta seemed like the movie accepted it. "You know what? Yeah, that's how its going to turn out, but f*ck it if we can't make it an enjoyable ride along the way." One thing I didn't get though was how Mike got almost 60k at the end of the game with KGB. He went in there with 10 - doubling up once only gives you 20k. Now, he had to pay 10k back to the professor, 7k for Worm's debt and 15k to Gramma - PLUS 30k for himself? Come off it. Perhaps Mike kept taking ALL of KGB's chips and he had to buy back in.

Poker: Beautifully handled. You could tell the writers/director knew what they were talking about. All the lingo, the attention to detail, it was great. This wasn't some amateur trying to do a poker movie, these guys did their research. When KGB smashed Mike's 9s full of Aces house with his pocket Aces, Aces full, I felt like I was so involved in the hand (with Mike) that I didn't even think about KGB having Aces until he revealed them - THAT'S when you know you've got a good film.

Overall: Excellent. Easily the best poker film I've seen - and I've only seen the one (The Grand doesn't count). Definitely recommended for any poker fans - and as a movie, its pretty great too.

9/10.

Edit: Fixed names.

I remember a discussion about whether KGB re-bought or not, and it's believed he did.
