You're a Bunch of Factors

Hi guys,

i watched rounders the other night on the advice of some people on this forum. It was a really good movie in general, leaving the poker aside for a minute.

Matt Damon is a card shark that plays with his mate the worm.

They are regulars in the underground card rooms of new york, and they do quite well, especially since worm is a card mechanic and likes deals good hands at will.

The story is about matt damon (sorry cant remember his character, too lazy to check) and worm as they try to erase worms debts by winning the money back by playing poker.

i found it to be a really good movie, easily better than the Stu Unger story, in both the quality of the movie, and the poker included in the movie.

i love rounders, easily best poker movie ive seen by far, and actually the poker in it is good

there is a new poker movie coming out soon... dont remember exact details on it though

hopefully ben affleck is not in it - horrible actor, but apparently not a bad poker player

Matt Damons character name is Michael McDermott (micky d).

A pretty good poker movie, its the movie that motivated Chris Moneymaker (2003 wsp main event champ) to take up poker.


Lucky You is also a fair decent poker movie with Eric Bana

I watched Lucky You on the weekend. I thought it was enjoyable, I didn't really care about the lovey dovey aspect of it - i thought Eric Bana's character spent more time at the tables than trying to form a relationship - and i really liked the special features which take you behind the scenes and explained how they tried to make the hands played realistic - people weren't always getting dealt awesome cards and just winning with royal flushes all the time! Some good interviews with well known players (eg Doyle Brunson). They explained how it was set in 2003 so set about recreating every detail to reflect poker in 2003. It also had actual poker players scattered around in the background and some involved with Eric Bana, which made it feel more authentic.
