Its still > than Federer...

Woods has won 68 official PGA Tour events including 14 majors. He has successfully defended a title 22 times on the PGA Tour, has finished runner-up 24 times, third place 17 times, and has won a record 29% (68 out of 231) of his professional starts on the PGA Tour. He has hit a combined total eighteen holes-in-one in the course of his lifetime—his first at the age of six.[117] He has a 32-6 record when leading after 36 holes in Tour events, and a 45–3cord when leading after 54 holes. He is 14-0 when going into the final round of a major with at least a share of the lead, and he has never lost any tournament when leading by more than one shot after 54 holes. He has been heralded as "the greatest closer in history" by multiple golf experts.[118][119][120] He owns the lowest career scoring average and the most career earnings of any player in PGA Tour history.

greater skill in golf than tennis at the top level? thats debatable.

golf - completely closed skill with minimal interferance from outside elements

v

tennis - completely open skill dependent on surface, tactics and gameplans versus your opponent

Not that playing golf at the top level is easy (a long lever and a small ball make it difficult) but to play tennis at the top level is much harder, and the players are much more skilled.
Riskers gamble, experts calculate.

as far as pure sportsman go, of course federer is more skilled than woods

federer has stood head and shoulders above everyone for the best part of this decade.

BUT woods has stood head, shoulders, willy, feet, and a big hill above everyone else. when he is on his game, there has been NOONE that have even come close. what woods has done would be the equivalent of federer beating nadaal in staight sets every time they have played.

Golf is a greater skill level over time and the development of your game is constant much like poker. There are so many variables on any given day like, weather, wind, competition, type of course, The list goes on. Golf imho is a much more physically draining sport that requires far more brain power than that of a tennis player....

Bit before most of you were born but the skills of these to champions make them among the best ever.

From the MotoGP Giacomo Agostini and from F1 Juan Manuel Fangio.

Fangio
Many consider him to be the greatest driver of all time." Several highly successful later drivers, such as Jim Clark, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher, have been compared with Fangio. It is generally acknowledged that such comparisons are not realistic, as the qualities required for success, the levels of competition, and the rules have changed over time.

Fangio's record of five World Championship titles stood for 45 years until German driver Michael Schumacher took his sixth title in 2003. Schumacher said, "Fangio is on a level much higher than I see myself. What he did stands alone and what we have achieved is also unique. I have such respect for what he achieved. You can't take a personality like Fangio and compare him with what has happened today. There is not even the slightest comparison."

Just because the youth of today havn't heard of them is no reason to discount them from the greatest, we saw and heard of their exploits from the likes of movietone news reals at cinema's or radio broadcasts.

Even though I'm not a soccer fan Pele must be considered one of the greatest football player along with Georgie Best.
