so the crows lost most of the games to the 4 teams above them, and won most of the games to the 10 teams below them.

WOW, is that how they get to be 5th on the ladder at the end of the season.

its not rocket science people!

if they beat the teams above them, wouldnt they have finished higher on the ladder?

noone tells geelong off for not being able to beat teams above them on the ladder :P

I'm a crows supporter and I wouldn't, and didn't, back them to win. There's always the dream and the hope that they'll somehow get a win but I wasn't surprised when they got diced. I was, however, quite surprised when they surged to 24 points in front in the second. Then when that was reeled back I had to think, 'well.. I guess that was actually expected.'

I think we should start up a tv show with all our half a$$ed footy tips and poker tips. Could be a winner.

Niel Craig played his Cards in the second Quarter..{thanks to his Assistants ?? }...Half time everyone regroups ... Collingwood kick three ..goals... scores tied 60 pts each 10 minutes left in third quarter.... Collingwood river three goals as the backs crumb the inside 50 plays to the Crows 'tall forwards"...
final quarter Crows get to 8pts , then the Collingwood cattle..{ read Paul Medhurst and the new 4 gamer Irish Guy ??} kick away ...game over bye bye crows...

good game....Crows supporters knew that their team were realistically playing above themselves.. so they stayed away and may as well watch it on the Telly

Oh Brucie the footy critic ....

MY RIGHT OF REPLY benny the cunt
listen to what you are saying bruce - you have completely contradicted where please... ???yourself

first you say that Neil Craig is a bad coach -
you said that all I said was malthouse was a better coach .. probably the best in the League yes he out coach Craig on the day dos not make Craig a bad coach...
then you say that the players weren't there to crumb in the second half. no I said collingwood players out crumbed the crows
now the latter is completely true - but by saying niel craig was a bad coach implies not my assumption..yours he instructed his players not to crumb - which is obviously silly.

in my opinion, the reason collingwood won the game in the second half is that they executed their skills better in the second half - craig can't really do much if the players' skills are crap ...crows one of the more skillful teams in the competition and very disciplined -- in doing what there coach has planned/ implemented... even if it may not win them the game...

ps Colling woods are about the only team to beat/take it up to Geelong in recent times.. Malthouse I still say is one of the best coaches around now that Leigh Matthews in gone.. AK might agree WCE had an era under him.
anyway, UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGS

COME ON CENTRALS

There's no point pulling out stats like who beat who and who finished higher because the simple fact is it's not a fair draw.

Nor will it be until everyone plays everyone else twice - once at home and once away. It will also mean one less thing to point the finger at for the teams that didn't do so well :)

So far the only argument I can remember hearing against such an idea is it will make the season too long and the players will get tired. Now I think that's daft. There's an entire squad to utilise (not to mention the exact reason for even having a squad) and just maybe it'll give some of the younger players a chance to develop.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Totally agree Pete, you have Adelaide and Geelong only playing 2 of the top 8 teams twice and Sydney, Roos and Pies playing 4 of the top 8 teams twice. You can say what you like about teams only ending up where they are because of who they beat (or can't beat) but the facts are a team that has to play Geelong and Hawthorn (or whoever the strong teams are in a season) twice has a distinct disadvantage compared to teams that only play them once (and perhaps only at home to make their advantage greater). Sure the finishing order of teams is "around the mark" but there has to be some anomalies due to the draw and this could make the difference between finishing 8th or 9th, or 4th of 5th. In fact with positions 4-8 being so close this year a bad draw could have made the difference between a team finishing 4th or 8th!

Will be interesting to see what they do with the draw when the new teams come in to the competition to try and fix the problems with the draw.

Hopefully they just make it each team plays each other once. Would shorten the season a bit, and would likely lift the quality of some of the games. Injuries'n'all that.

Would be nice, but it isn't going to happen - too much money on the TV rights :(

yeah, the draw is screwed in AFL

pete, your comment about the lists is right - except, they only have 38 on a list, and at any one time, there could be 10 or more players injured, as happened with essendon.

so if they wanted to go to playing each other twice, they would have to greatly expand the lists, which costs move and dilutes the talent available at the top of the game.

and unlike soccer/football where the club has superstars sitting on the bench, i don't think this could happen i footy
