why do NFL players wear padding and helmets? there is clearly less contact than games like rugby.
Yanks are soft though

Ok I'll put it back on track, Green Bay zapped by 3 on the weekend that leaves us at 2/3 and 2nd in the division, oh well there is life after Brett.

Re: NFL on 10 HD
compared with rugby union, the impacts to the players would be less. but yet they have massive padding.
gridiron is definitely a tough game, but why all the padding when union guys don't?

Re: NFL on 10 HD
because of the padding they actually can and do hit harder, many of the hits are helmet first, like a spear, a tackle you cant do without the helmet
its a hard sport for hard men, they just look like pussys

Unfortunatly benny the cunt you have not been very observent, some league and union players were shoulder pads, now take a look at the new union jumpers some have pad built into them.
I dare you to put your body on the line pad and helmet free, and take a hit from a linebacker.
Remember the massive hit put on a special teams punt returner by an aussie punter for the chargers namely Darren Bennett leveled him out and the players response was punters are not supposed to tackle that hard.

Re: NFL on 10 HD
shoulder pads in union are a lot different to the pads and helmets that NFL players wear gundog, i think it is you that needs to be a little more observant.
i was merely making the comparison between union and NFL. i think that there is a similar amount of contact in each sport, but the protective gear is very very different.
i am wondering why that is. does anyone know?
