Network Ten is set to unveil a 24-hour sports channel.

The network will throw down the gauntlet to Fox Sports and its free-to-air rivals next month, when it unveils plans for a high-definition channel to run sport around the clock.

Ten has been systematically buying up big sporting events including at Sportel - the global tradeshow of sporting rights - held in Monaco last week.

Ten now owns the rights to show Australian swimming, US NBA Basketball, US Major League baseball, US Open golf and tennis championships and the US Masters Golf.

The network will broadcast AFL games again next season and it recently purchased the rights to televise the Trans-Tasman Netball League.

Ten, which also owns rights to IPL Cricket and all Formula One Grand Prix events, is expected to announce its new dedicated sports channel in mid-November.

with the NBA etc, they will obviously be taking a feed from the US, so the coverage will still be the same.

Will Foxtel still show NBA?

As I dont have foxtel I dont know if its on FS1/2/3 or ESPN.

If it's on ESPN then yes it will still be on foxtel because Monday Night Football is on both ESPN and Ch10HD

although i dont have foxtel either,but i have seen NBA on ESPN, dunno if its also on the other channels.

still going to be awesome though.

sweeet, now all i need is a HD recorder, us sports are normally on when im at work

I just run my HD Set Top box throught my HDD Recorder... only records in SD but still good enough.

im gonna start saving 90 bucks a month come novemeber

only prob with 10hd is there is a half hour delay here in adelaide. other than that though I'm gnna be in sports heaven. sports 24/7. gnna love it

might actually keep me on the couch instead of playing NPL
