WOW, formula 1 is back to being exciting again

With the introduction of new teams such as Brawn GP and the improvements from a lot of the cars such as Toyota and Red Bull it looks like i might go back to watching this sport

Anyone watch the race?

What a finish, that crash with Vettel and Kubica was awesome

yeah i watched the whole race, and qualifying on saturday

i really liked the changes to the cars, and the qualifying. it was good to see the ferraris and mclarens in the middle of the pack, and some of the other teams like brawn (WOW!) and red bull leading the pack.

how unlucky is webber - gets smacked by barrichello, who barely gets damaged and goes on to finish second.

webber had some good pace as well, he would have been pushing for a podium. unluckiest man in racing

yeah how stupid was that!!

steve, do you know anything about the "diffuser" that brawn were running that the other teams are in protest about? i didn't catch the details of the system over the weekend.

im not really suprised with what Ross Brawn is capable of, if you follow F1s at all u would know he was at the head of ferrari when schumacher was so dominant, good to see richard branson on board too, should be a different looking car next round with the sponsorship of virgin

not 100% sure of what the diffuser issue is all about, i know its part of the rear bodywork that increases downforce and only Brawn, Toyota and Williams have used this sort of technology. These have been protested but dont be suprised if you see the big teams such as Ferrari and Mclaren develop a similar system soon

I think those 3 teams have designed the car in such a way to allow them to use a wider, more efficient, diffuser. All F1 cars have diffusers however.

The only thing I can think of is if the rule was written that the diffuser can be a certain percentage width of a certain part of the car, and those teams made that part wider. F1.com doesn't have any technical analysis in the usual spot for this sort of thing: http://www.formula1.com/news/technical/

The diffusers were scrutinised and declared legal.

Those who weren't using them clearly don't like being spanked by a better idea and have thus appealed and last I read that'll get heard sometime in April.

Mr Brawn was also already technical director at Honda wasn't he Steve? You do remember Honda having copious amounts of suck right? :)

Seriously though, Mr Brawn is a genius.

I believe the key to Mark Webbers luck changing is to stop qualifying in spots around 5-10 and place himself further up the field so he can avoid most of the 1st corner shenanigans. That and he should stop walking under ladders and things :)

brawn was michael schumachers race engineer at ferrari, and was at ferrari

he then took over the honda team when they pulled out

thats what makes this even more amazing - it is 90% someone elses car, they have had basically no development time of their own

benny the cunt is correct

honda had a decent car the problem was the Honda engine lol

Brawn is using a Mercedes engine now, im thinking quite similar to that of McLaren
