Not an out and out great of the game, but certainly a champion player over a long stretch.

Sucks no farewell match, but we might yet play finals!

He's the kind of bloke every team needs.. No superstar, but gets the job done, and can win a game for you on any given day.

Can't say I'm too sad to see him leaving though. Hopefully he plays R22, and the Bombres are mathematically out of finals by then ;)

I believe I heard it was 1984 since Carlton, Collingwood & Essendon all played in the same finals series.

I don't want to hang too much carp on the guy since he has announced his retirement but.........

I can't understand how he played on for so many games & how the opposition gave him so much room. We all know about his inability (more like no desire) to handball but he has to be the most one dimensional player to have played for a long long time. He had no right foot whatsoever & the fact that he rarely handballed meant he should not have got as much of the ball as he did. I think he is pretty lucky that he could take a big mark & kick long.

Good luck to him in his retirement anyway.

one dimensional is fine, as long as you play to your strengths. which he did. he was obviously a bad handballer :P

seriously though, he was a great mark and a huge kick. to say that the opposition gave him room is a bit silly really - noone just gives a man room for the sake of it.

Fare ye well Scotland Lucas. In his hay day was gun forward but despite a slump in form lately, he has always been a fan favourite. Good luck with the elbow:
