OK I know some of you Central boys will bite at this, but frankly I dont give a fig. (yes, die hard quote!)

This is part of an article on AdelaideNow and I think it's pretty spot on.

WHAT would Star Wars have been without Darth Vader? What would the SANFL be without Port Adelaide?

These are the questions non-Magpie fans should be asking themselves today.

The drama is at its best before the villain leaves the stage and for those of us who did not grow up in the black and white army, Port is the ultimate bad guy.

Its fans even wear black hats.

If Port Adelaide Magpies fold, who will there be to hate?

Sure, Central District - or more precisely many of its fans - have developed an annoying arrogance, but they'll never really inspire the same fear and loathing Port's 140-year, 36-premiership iron rule generated.

Hating Port has become a comforting constant for supporters of many other clubs.

And yes, I went into the club today and became a member. $100 of money I don't really have, but it has to be done.

As much as I hate Norwood and Centrals I wouldn't wish for this to happen to them.

I don't wanna hear the bs arguments, I'm not forcing you to sign it. If you don't want to, then don't. Just letting people know about it.

to be honest des, i think the sanfl would be a farce if the magpies were not in the competiton. as much as i hate them, i HAVE to respect the success they have had. and think most supporters would be the same.

anyone that wants the magpies out of the competition is a fool.

having said that, i think there is more to it than the other clubs not liking port adelaide. sure, it would have something to do with it, but as the paper puts it, putting two non profitable clubs together doesn't make a profitable one.

i hope the members pull together and lift the club off the canvas, similar to what happened with south and sturt in recent history. port deserve that much. it does make you wonder how a club as strong as port, with as many supporters as they have, could have got into this position though.

good on you des for supporting your team with your hard earned when they need it.

Maybe Port could merge. I hear the Port Broughton under 14's are in a bit of trouble.
I don't hate Port, just their feral supporters who think they are the best thing ever.
The only thing I hate is, now that Centrals are winning, and are on top of their game, people compare us to Port, saying it's just a phase and other stupid things. yet Port supporters say we are nothing and wouldn't beat able to beat the Port of the 80's, well, my time machine is broken and I have to be done with living in the present.

Don't worry Dessy, I give the ENTIRE SANFL about 3 more seasons before it is gone. The Aust wide AFL expansion was always a death blow for State Comps, just ask the VFL how it is going now....!!

Absaloute crap Jmack, the fact is that the AFL simply would not allow any of the major state competitions to fold. Yes, Port are in trouble at the moment, and although im centrals through and through i do hope they survive, but dont for one second think that the SANFL itself is on the brink of collapse. In fact the SANFL is VERY financially sound at the present time, without any support from the AFL, it would still survive...

Some Port supporter said something along the lines of "Screw the SANFL. Let the Magpies fold, and then they can have 2 byes per round".
