Anyone else here follow the greatest sport in the world?
It's going to be one of the best seasons ever, and it all starts in Bahrain (damn boring track unfortunately) this weekend. For those of you not up to date with the off-season changes, here are the cliff notes.
- BMW, Toyota and Renault leave the sport (BMW salvaged by Peter Sauber, former owner. Renault there in name only, 25% owner now)
- New teams Lotus, Virgin & Hispania Racing join the grid (4th team USF1 fails to make the grid. Not looking positive during first practice. Lotus and Virgin 5 seconds off the pace, Hispania 11 seconds away)
- Mercedes buys out championship team Brawn GP, first Mercedes team in F1 since 1955, and brings out of retirement maybe the greatest driver ever, MICHAEL F***ING SCHUMACHER, on a 3 year deal.
- World Champ Jenson Button joins Lewis Hamilton at McLaren. First double World Champ pairing since Senna/Prost days.
- Double world champ Fernando Alonso joins Felipe Massa at Ferrari. Raikkonen leaves and joins WRC full time.
- Webber still at Red Bull with Vettel, possibly strongest team in pre-season testing.
- 8 possible world champs this season (Webber, Vettel, Button, Hamilton, Schumacher, Rosberg, Alonso, Massa)
-Nephew of Ayrton Senna, Bruno Senna, joins grid with Hispania.
I've been a Schumacher fan boy since 1991. I was 6 years old, a supporter of Benetton at the time, and I still remember watching his first race. He joined Benetton very next round, and when he moved to Ferrari I followed. I am now Ferrari through and through, with a massive soft spot for Webber.
It will be tough to watch him drive for Mercedes, but I think I would prefer him to win than a Ferrari, those 2 just don't do it for me.
Qualifying live 9:30pm tonight on OneHD.
So very pumped.
