Congrats Matt! That's a massive achievement in anyones NPL book.

Was starting to lose count of the amount of players who were still in that were whining about how long a day it was :P No joke though, I was stuffed by dinner time on day 1! I really shouldn't start drinking so early lol.

I was sure Ash was going to win it, he had such a huge chiplead at one stage - not to mention I donated most of my stack to him so he was obliged to 'do the right thing' and go on to win it :D

Having had the chance to play against Ash about 3 times now, I can say he has changed his game slightly from when I first played him and has improved upon it (not that he was bad to start with). He was definitely focused and playing well on day 1 and deserved to be in the position he was. I'm sure he'll be spewing he didn't go on to win.

Congratulations again Matt and well done also to our mate Jamo for coming in 2nd, he can be really proud of himself for that effort.

Thank you also to the venue, I was especially pleased to see Carlsbergs on sale in the front bar :D I'd definitely go again and I reckon you should make it an annual event!
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Congratulations and big thank you to Annabelle, Garth, all of our NPL TD staff members for an EXCELLENT weekend.

Also thanks must go to the Berri Resorts management and staff for a successful and most enjoyable "On the River Deep Stack Event".

Congratulations to all of the punters and especially the finalists. Well done Matt, Jamo & Ash for what I heard was a great final table. Unfortunately I left when I got knocked out of the Special Sunday tourney and the Big Stack were down to 2 tables and playing for the final table.

I must say it was the most enjoyable weekend I have had in such a long time and the "BIG STACK EVENT" has to be kept as an anual event.

The Friday night event was a bonus for those of us who ventured to Berri on the Friday. I was a little lucky in finishing 13th out of around 160 runners. :D I had a great opening table with Garth, Rcon, riverland guy, Des, Scott, Jamo, and ?????? sorry I forgot.

Saturday was another story. It was great to see all the familiar faces turning up to register and try their luck on the day. I think the biggest shock was to see "Matty G" being the first one out when his ace high straight got smashed. :(

I was really happy with my play until I got moved to one of the last 4 or 5 tables with around $190k and just over one more session to go. I was getting playable cards but I had 3 huge stack on my left including the chip leader.

Unfortunately these guys were controlling the table with ALLIN raises. I made a $40k raise with A5 off, one of them went ALLIN and another small stack also went ALLIN so I fold to have another go later. Big stack had crap but rivered a 4 to make a pair and took it down.

Same again a few hands later I raise $40K UG with pocket 4's big stack goes ALLIN BB goes ALLIN with around $90k, I fold. BB turns over KK big stack had rag cards again and the kings hold up.

A few hands later and KK player goes ALLIN in with $7.5 as she had just had a bad beat from one of the bigger stacks. Dakota says I can call her $7.5 or raise I choose to call with KQ off big stack goes ALLIN by this time I'm on tilt and around $90k left.

I decided that he's shown crap cards almost every time so I go ALLIN with my KQ off he turns pocket 5's she turns Jack rag. His pocket fives hold up and I'm out in 32nd position. With 20 minutes of play left on the night in hind sight I could have maybe waited for either a better hand or a better finishing position. :o

Allin all I had a great weekend and the missus had a good break from work. We were gonna go home on the Sunday morning but I won an imaginary paper scissors rock to play the Sunday Special game  and she ended up going to Renmark and bought herself a new bag.
Remember, It takes 8 muscles to smile :D and 40 to frown :(

i just have to say that this was the most awesome poker tournament ever!!

i got knocked out after about 6.5 hours in the main event, with 11 tables left, and made it to 3 tables left in the repecharge event, so all in all i was pretty happy with my tournament.

i have to say that the final table was just awesome. i had every intention of going home to play the last night at the willo, but i just had to stay and watch till the end.

a big congratulations to matt, jamo, and ash who i thought played ABOLUTELY AWESOME POKER, both on the final table, and when i had the pleasure of playing against ash during the tournament.

i wont spoil all of the good bits on the final table, as i won't be able to do those moments justice, ill wait for the writeup before i comment.

good to catch up with some of the fellow forum whores that had yet to meet, although there are still some that i didn't get a chance to say g'day to.

all in all, big congrats to matt and all other final tablists for their massive effort, i am sure they are all sleeping in now.

and a big thankyou to everyone that organised the tournament, it was really well run, and HEAPS of fun - i hope to see it on again next year

I never got to sit with you at a table, and still didn't get a chance to say g'day ... :( Did meet your bro though on the Friday night.

A Friday Kingy game will have to be on the cards soon to rectify that.

Berri weekend = awesome. Don't have the time ATM to write all I want to write.

Watching some of the plays over the weekend taught me I have to trust my initial reads on players. Many times I second guessed what they were holding, and it cost me. What I think I saw from the final 3 tables were people having reads, and going with them. That's how I felt Jamo was playing.

Although I guess you have to be flexible too.

Congrats to everyone involved in the running of the day, it was an awesome weekend. Next time, I wanna play on the feature table :)
