As a poker player is it not worth turning up & free rolling for a chance to win cash and an entry into a torunament that you WILL NOT be able to buy into? Maybe it's just me but a $10,000 Free Roll sounds pretty good.
fair enough tim, 10k freeroll is still good.

Re: SA State Championships
I'm sorry, but I can't understand Fullhouse Group's reasoning on this at all. You have GROWN your customer base in SA (as well as other States), but LOWERED your prize pools????
I also fail to see how adding a massive customer base in NSW affects happenings in SA??
Whilst I do agree 100% that the Main Event is worth trying to qualify into at all opportunities, I would hardly call the Semi's a free-roll. All players that have qualified into it (with the possible exception of a few last minute APL event winners) have spent money attending their weekly events over the Season.
I am grateful for the great opportunities you guys provide for your customers, but this decision really confuses me, and might really hurt your business in the long run when your players decide that State Finals are no longer worth qualifying for. That's the last thing any of us want to have happen.......

Re: SA State Championships
So 888PL South Australia pays the price for the APL being complete rubbish in South Australia?
And for us, the acquisition was a bad thing, not a good thing?

To be fair, it's not really free-rolling, despite not paying entry.
A lot of hard-earned dollars are spent weekly, or even nightly, to qualify for these events.

Re: SA State Championships
yeah i see your guys points.
it shouldnt really matter what market share we are, that shouldn't really make the prize pool go down

I don't really care about what were CBI and what were Freerolls - it really doesn't change anything.

Re: SA State Championships
So if I understand the system right, the FHG/APL juggernaut basically pools X% of company profit to go towards prizepools and then divides this among the states based on "the percentage of venues and events" in each state.
So does that mean if South Australia has fewer venues/events but contributes more to revenue than another State, they will receive a lower percentage of the prizepool compared to that other State?
You should surely be able to say XYZ state contributes $200k in revenue of which $80k is profit and so their prizepool will be some fixed percentage of that corresponding figure across each state. That way if people say, "How come prizepools have dropped?", you can say "People in SA just aren't spending as much as they used to", which I am sure people will understand.
As it is (and if I am correct in my assumptions), it seems the APL's numbers in NSW has increased the number of events/venues for NSW since the FHG/APL merge and has received an increased prizepool as a result, without necessarily contributing a commensurate amount of revenue to the overall revenues.
Interesting. Is that hard to track state by state contributions to revenue Tim?

But, you can't just "turn up" though? You need to qualify. You can't pay $50, either, if I remember correctly? You need to go to venues, and finish in the top 4? or is it 5? Even top 5 - that's tough in many venues - and even tougher if you don't spend money. I reckon I've spent half the cash prize money in a season just eating and drinking.
I think what most people are saying is that going to venues, eating, drinking, and doing that each week on the same night - and then the result being what it is - probably doesn't match up anywhere near as much as it used to.
