I like amajority of players would cash a card at the start, haveing 2k instead of 1k most players will look at alot more flops and chase hands, with 1k you become selective on which flops you see.
Since I have been holding both cards untill the break my points finishes have gone up, considering part of my play plan is donot go all in unless its an unbeatable hand, slow play sucks more from players chasing the river card, on average I would play 2 to 3 hand in the 1st session and 50% of the time I would win a majority of hands played.
I also tend to muck with players minds by showing my cards at every hand played wether its a top hand or a bluff during the 1st session.
Why do people keep 2 flight cards?

Re: Why do people keep 2 flight cards?
seems pretty split at the moment. Valid points on both sides.
i tend to think if u need to go all in twice and LOSE, then you are doing something wrong - thats just my opinion. everyone can get donked once, or run into a monster, but hopefully not twice!
i personally liked it when there was no rebuys at all - i.e if you were out, that was it, bye bye. but i understand its to let everyone have at least 40 mins or so of poker per night, and lets the players that are still learning play a lot more hands and improve.

Re: Why do people keep 2 flight cards?
really mystifies me that people even consider keeping 2 cards e.g. des and others. why would you choose to
a. not get value for the monster hands when they come around and b. have insurance for your own bad play. i think that knowing that a decision i make might send me home early makes me more focussed on the right decision. people are making allowances for their own recklessness.
yeah people might be more selctive starting with only the 1000, but heres a massive thought, i reckon that if you good enough, it might just be possible to BE JUST AS SELECTIVE with an extra 1000 in your stack. i know, i know that may sound like im reinventing the wheel (noticing the sarcasm folks) but if you NEED a small chipstack to be selectice with with the hands that you play, how are you going to go if (by some miracle) you actually do get a decent stack of chips in front of you.
Granted their are a lot of donks out there who will call and get lucky against your better hand, but believe it or not people do fold in the npl des, and the extra 1000 chips is sometimes exaclty what is required to either push them off their hand, or enable you to get yourself into less situations where you turn your cards over and your all in.
Question? if you get yourself into say 4 situations early in the tourney where your in a position that you are all in with callers (which has to be more likely to happen if you only have 1000) then even if you have made 'the right call' and you turn your cards over each time and find yourself in front with an opponent needing to hit their gut shot each time, then in fact the odds of you winning all of these four hands on your way to the final table only about 60% (depending on if you have to turn your cards on 4th or 5th street)
so are you getting 'donked' or are you giving yourself to many opportunities to be donked, meaning that your own bad play is at fault. (even if the extra chips prevent ONE of these all in circumstances, then your in a much better situation than you might have been)
anyway thats my (glocken)schpiel, it does my head in to think why people wont get the extra chips at the start, but hey thats why poker is great, everybody has their own strategy, its just that some people get to hone this strategy on the bad beat tables more than others.

i have no idea who you are so you arent worthy of a reply
and if you actually read what i wrote, you may understand it
would love to see your "results" because all i can see from your posts is that you think you are pretty damn good, well results count my friend
not saying im good, infact i class myself as an "ok (middle of the range)" player, but for me to have any respect for someones comments id like to see who they are and what they've done.

Re: Why do people keep 2 flight cards?
<shrug>
dunno what the prob is there.
The only reason I can see for holding onto your cards is to make sure you have at least 2k after the 1st break.
If you get good cards/get lucky and don't need the extra 1k to start with, well done and congrats. It's still a risk though.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

not offended AK, just its amusing that someone anonymous is insinuating im a bad player, if in fact they come on and it turns out that they are successful then i might list to what they have to say
lol bob, nice one, just a name will do
EDIT: never mind... i know who he is now... damn the B&G players like me dont they lol
I guess if i were playing in 30-35 player tournaments all the time I'd cash in both cards too.

Re: Why do people keep 2 flight cards?
des, it seems like when someone disagrees with you on this forum, your comeback is to try and belittle them.
you are rapidly losing respect among most of the people that i know that are on these forums.
if you dont know him, then why dont wait until you meet someone before running your mouth off over a post that was obviously not offensive.
grow up mate - a good debate ruined by immaturity

Re: Why do people keep 2 flight cards?
sorry benny the cunt the almighty... oh hang on thats immature?
it seems to me no one can have a discussion on these boards with out someone taking offence... from both side
yes i did take a little offence from someone basically saying im a bad player, when they've never played against me either direct or just in a tournament
we were trying to discuss how some people use a card straight away, and some people dont
i said i SOMETIMES don't use a card... then i get a post from macca saying im a bad player? how am i to react mate?
i was offering a different view to the normal and im the one attacked... next time ill say "yes ok, im a bad player, everyone else is right, im wrong?" ok
