As I stated somewhere previously, the last thing I wanted to see was an us vs. them mentality.
To be quite honest it's freaking stupid and ridiculous, how about it's a we are all poker players/ 888PL members mentality?
That works for me.

Re: Berri Deepstack Discussion Thread (No Rego's here)
ok ill post the long winded version of the berri deepstack weekend, cos i would like to get some feedback on some of the crucial hands over the weekend.
The tourney started off in good fashion, i was sent to the feature table to join David, benny the cunt, AK and laura. Although this was a tough table draw, i believed that it would help me. All of us clearly had a strategy of playing tight, conservative poker early on, so we very rarely tangled in large pots against each other.
This allowed us to pick on the other stacks at our table (including a couple of crazies) and i increased my stack steadily, but also lost some small pots, meaning i was level after the first session.
The second session was a tough one for me. People were check-raising my cbets from late position and i kept running into big hands. I was down to only 10k at one stage, but managed to grind that back up to around 26k and an average stack at the second break.
From here is where my luck started to change. I doubled up early with AA against QQ and i soon had a stack nearing 100k.
HAND ONE – lucky river
Blinds are 4000/8000/1000, Russell (aka Mr Xtal) limps from UTG and i flat from the button with [ad][9d]. The small blind completes and the BB, checks his option. (pot about 40k).
Flop [qd][jd][x]
Both of the blinds check and Russell bets 20k. This bet doesnt look overly strong to me, and i have seen russell float with middle pair on previous occasions. I discount hands like AQ and QJ, and end up putting him on AJ or KJ (maybe JT, but this was unlikely from UTG). I work out that i am not folding here, but what to do next. If i call here, what will i do on the turn if he bets again (maybe 50k this time). I only had about 90k so that would be the majority of my stack.
So i also rule out calling. I decided to put the pressure on and shove for my remaining 90-odd-thousand.
Russell tanks for about 3 minutes and decides to call, tabling [kc][qh]
So i had 12 outs, meaning it was basically a 50/50 flip. Luckily a spiked a diamond on the river which doubled me up to over 200k.
From here it was reasonably plain sailing and i was able to pick up pots at will, raising a lot of hands from late in position. I had built my stack to a little over 600k going into the final table.
HAND TWO – the biggest decision i have had to make in poker.
6 players left, and blinds were 20k/40k/5k and i pick up [ac][kh] in the small blind with about 900k in chips. I have got a reasonably bad table draw, as although i was second in chips, the chip leader (who had well over a million at the time) had position on me.
There are two limpers so i decide to raise to 220k. The BB (big stack) goes all in, and the limpers promptly fold. So it is up to me to make a call for the rest of my stack, or fold.
I struggle to put the BB on a hand. I had sat on this guy’s (Duncan) table for only an hour or so while we were down to two tables, so i limited information on him. I had seen him play reasonably aggressively, opening pre-flop with a wide-ish range and picking up lots of orphaned pots post flop, but rarely did i see him come over the top of a raise without premium cards. I was also aware that he had seen me do a similar thing with my biggish stack, although im not sure whether this was part of his thought process when he put me all in.
I ruled out a bluff immediately, as he looked strong, so i narrowed his range down to AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AK and maybe TT or AQ. So i decided i was most likely racing, but there was a small chance i was either dominated, or dominating him. So now was the time that i had to decide whether to gamble for the massive chip lead, and possibly the tournament (it would have been a 2 million chip pot).
I tanked for what seemed like an eternity but it must have been 5-6 minutes. If i folded here, i would still have over 600k in chips and be second. The rest of the table were being reasonably passive, and i had added 300k to my stack just by picking up blinds and antes. I was also confident in being able to outplay the big stack if we got to a heads up situation, even if i had a chip deficit. All of these things led me to the decision to fold.
I showed my AK and Duncan promptly rolled AQ. I was a little disappointed, but still happy i folded. It was really the only hand he possibly could have had that i was beating, and i was still second in chips.
HAND THREE – ouch time
An orbit later and the blinds are 30k/60k/5k. I have a little under 600k. Im in the big blind this time but again get [ad][kh]. Action is folded to the small blind (ducky) who completes. Ducky had only about 260k behind him, so i decide to put the pressure on and set him all in.
He thinks for ages and eventually calls, tabling [3c][3s]. The board bricks out and i take a huge hit to my stack, about half including the big blind.
This is the one hand i believe i made a mistake in. A standard raise (to say 150k total) could have either got a fold (and looked less like a bluff), or enabled a c-bet to take the pot had ducky called. I didn’t believe that ducky would limp with a pair, and i thought i would be well ahead of his limping range from the SB, but i think i could have made the mistake to make this pot so large. If i had put in a standard raise, and ducky had flat called / shoved the flop, then i might have been commited with only A high. This is why i decided to get it in pre.
After this i was left with only about 4bb, meaning i soon had to gamble, and i was out soon after in 6th place.
All in all, it was a great weekend i believe. I learnt so much and believe i played well also. I am wondering how my weekend might have panned out had i played those three crucial hands differently. I would really appreciate some feedback on what you would have done in similar situations and if i did the right thing.
Oh yeah, and it was fun hitting the piss with everyone, even if i did have to leave early so i was fresh for the next days action.

Matty:
I only saw Hand Two from the rail alongside benny the cunt. We picked you for a fold and despite the outcome it was probably the right thing to do. Best case scenario I could think of was that you were probably racing and didn't need to take such a gamble. Good chance you were dominated by KK or AA though. That was a rare move from him, I was on his table for the final session on Saturday night and then on Sunday and I dont remember him making that sort of play very often. He was pretty aggressive but not to that extent I think.
