That's a fair point Todd, the tourney is fixed at 300 runners maximum so if as many as 270 are booked in at the venue it's going to be damn hard for anyone not staying at it to get in the game.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Yes, I agree with BigPete33, its a valid point there Todd, however, take a bloody happy pill.

There are ways to convey meaning without coming over aggressive.

We should instigate a tool of the week award for some forum comments (and yes, I have posted a couple of whoppers).

On another note, has there been any talk about the payout scheme for the tournament?

There has been mention of the $1000 repercharge tourney (which I assume forms part of the $5000 package).

Just wondering what level of payout to expect.

ie - top 9 - final table
- top 15 - that is, in lieu of points, $$
- top 18-21 - a total of 6-7% of runners get $$

Just a query is all, not that effects my decision to play.

Shannon, feel free to go over every one of my previous posts.

That was the first hint of negativity in ANY of them, always constructive. However.....

If you want to instigate a tool of the week award for forum comments, I suggest Cougar would win most of them :D

Relax Cougar, just kidding ;)

Its just that posts like the one he made about alternate accomodation makes my job and Garth's a lot harder.

We get phone calls, emails, PM's and face to face queries about this
topic and it has been constantly stated about the preferences of people staying at the resort.

I'm sorry if $145 is out of some people's price range, it is a lot of money, but you seriously can't expect the management of the Berri Hotel (who read these posts) to be happy to see people arranging other accomodation after they just put up $5000.

So my apologies for coming across aggressive.

I too thought Todd's post was fine. Not that it matters.

I was thinking the top 20 would receive money... I don't think it'll be like that though.

I have held my fingers over the over zelous posts about the cost accomadation at the Berri Resort Hotel.

Stop whinning about it if you give up 1 nights poker for each week until yhe event you would have saved enough to pay the bill. When country players travel to the state final (a 1 day event ) costs us heaps but you dont see them whinning about the cost, so you city slickers build a bridge and get over it.
And just for the record Berri's drink prices are cheaper than the place that hosted the last state final ie Cougar on tap $4.50 a schooner.

;) so those that do make the trip beyond Smithfield, welcome to the riverland I hope you enjoy your visit, but lock up your wives and girlfriends there are some randy riverlanders around

If your wives and girlfriends weren't also your sisters and cousins there's a few of us city slickers I'd be saying to watch out for :D

Clearly, I'm joking.

When it was only "what if we had a big stack tourney in the country within a 3 hour maximum drive" idea by Garth. Great Idea!!!! :D

Obviously it was hinted around the Berri, Loxton area and Berri seemed to be at the top of the list. As we all know now it is Berri and $145 per motel room was advertised on the forum. 8-)

I prefer to make a weekend of it and take the missus as she is the bread winner and deserves the weekend off. We decided we'd prefer going on Friday afternoon rather than on the day and stay the weekend. ;)

I Googled the venue and it said they have a 20% discount available making it $116 per room. However after a phone call I was told the rate for that weekend stands at $145. Now Luke says it's only $130 per room??? :?

So, based on the information supplied I looked elsewhere that was financially more viable for us. To be honest I was a little pissed off as we wanted to support the venue and stay there Friday Saturday and possibly Sunday nigh6t depending on the overall costs. :)

Please don't read into the above as being a whinge, or a whine as I had every intention to support the venue and still will via our meals and drinks etc as best we can. It would have been a lot of fun (maybe) spendind a weekend away with 299 drunken poker players LOL. :P

Hopefully I'll still get a seat and experience the big stack tourney. If not we'll do the tourist thingy and enjoy our weekend away. Lets hope the weather is good and poker is even better, regards Bob B :D
