I've already posted my thoughts here on the event - I had issues with the blind structure, but understood it wasn't set in stone and have already seen it be subsequently amended for proceeding events.
As a player, I was more than happy with the other aspects.
edit: Venue was PGCC

Just on that point too - if you win this event, you also receive a $50 entry to an end of season deepstack event. So to use the 1st place prize in your example, this needs to be included.

That's good M8. I find I enjoy playing cash games more than the Freerolls especially when the punters are playing better or should I say more enjoyable poker.
I'm hoping that once NPL's CBI's are sorted out and have settled down to the point where the remaining regular players are the ones who I'd prefer to play with on a regular basis.
I'm not really a high stakes player, but having said that I've squirrelled away $2k to have a go at some decent tourneys while I'm away.
Assuming I have the nerve to pull it out of my pocket and slam it on the table that is, LOL. I'm hoping that anything over $100 buyin should give me a good table.
I suppose I should really ask Garth, Brett or some of the other guys who play regular tourneys interstate to give me an idea. Last time I was at the Crown I played the $40 tables and wanted to play the S&G's but never had the spare cash to splurge.

Re: Cash buy in events to commence in Season 2!
ok ill try and disect some of this. I do contract to NPl and im also very passionate about NPL, our players and our venues.
What needs to be looked is the overall value that is on offer everytime a player steps into our venues. To say that $40 was spent for the chance to win $60 is totally incorrect. Simply on the cash payout the $50 ticket was neglected to be mentioned so overall prize for 1st is $110. The ticket itself sees the player sitting in a 5k gtd tournament this season which have around 100 players attend (thats pretty good odds). As NPL rolls out more and more CBI games the true value of these tickets will become realised, imagine playing in a 100k gtd tournament from playing at your local.
Remember also that all benefits from the freeroll can be obtained through the CBI as well, top 5 goes to main event, top 50 in state also goes to main event, FTT are still recieved to satelite into casino tournaments or win various prizes.
Without going into too much detail the $3 offsets the cost to the venue, most venues running CBI have been long time NPL providers and also have picked up extra games to run these events. These venues all pay so that you have somewhere to play.
Stamping issues, the greatest complaint that we get, well lets break a few things down. Yes some venues are tighter on stamps than others, but remember you are not simply handing over for eg $27 dollars for stamps, in return you are also recieving drinks and meals, Prices are not jacked up on a poker night they are the same as what they would be if you just wanted to head out for the evening. And as has been mentioned you do always have a choice.
Bob ill address the wheaty stamp system, as it stands now the $4 per stamp is no longer, the stamp system is incredibly fair. The reason in fact for that sign being placed, was the venue was frustrated by the amount of whinging they were recieving week in week out by severall players when they were actually being rather lenient on there policy.
All in all what i hope people do is look at the total value of the games and what is on offer not just simply oh look at what first gets paid out in cash.
regards

In addition it is also worthy to note that when attending an NPL game it also ensures the most professional run game, with the most knowledgeable staff in this industry. A website that is also legible and up to date and continual inovation.
