Re: Season 5 NPL Champs (SA) Shout thread

Postby A0 » Sun Feb 08, 2009 6:54 pm

Just came from state flight 2 - left angry - now sad.
Bad beats are poker aces smashed, so be it.
But losing to incompetence or just bad management, being that those are things controlled by others, that just sux.
Am I a sore loser, bad player both? Probably.
But to any one who knows poker or is learning poker, some things make a big difference
Position, chips, even comfort.
But to me, in a big tournament it is how tables collapse.
Is it front to back, left to right - or just plain random, this affects how I play.
The staff will know me just by this comment - what ways are the tables collapsing.

If you are first - no presence can be established and aggressive play is more needed.
Last to collapse - tight set table image and work the table.
Random - varies between both pending on the day and players.
So with all this said Here is why Im leaving NPL.
I’ve had several misdemeanors’ in the past so be it with one major one in my last state final. Now this one.
I made several efforts asking the TA's what way the tables were collapsing, a very just and legitimate question.
No one was 100% sure and said ask the TD (and head of nplsa - I must say). For this I was told that the collapse would be from low to high and that my table would be in the first 4 to collapse,
This set the tempo for my whole game and strategy play hard for 30 min get moved take table by table and hopefully get moved to one of the last end tables. Then settle down.
Oh how wrong it was - Got to the table all went to plan 3k up at 30 min tables start collapsing, but wait not from low to high but high to low. DAMN
now whenever I made a bet I got called and yes, so did the suck outs.(suck outs hey that’s poker) but this should never of happened if I had not been misinformed, I understand if there had been a significant time from the time I asked but it was 5 min before the start.
NPL you have hurt me.
So it’s just a stupid torny, but this one meant a lot to me,
Even if I did go there to have a good time.
This is enough to drive me away from NPL and to tell everyone I can how ###### it is.
I have made some great friends staff, players, and hosts.
But this has left a bad taste.

Can someone please justify and convince me to come back?
So many friends.
But to leave is my protest.
(For bad things to happen means good people do nothing)
Thanx for the good times.
But the bads are too bad.

well Goodbye its your loss.

You forgot the first principle in life.

Everything is fluid so therefore you must adapt and overcome.

Whats the big deal in how the tables breakdown, if the info you received 5min before the start of the game, for what ever reason things change. so change your game plan no big deal.

get over it
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

I'm not going to comment on the rest of the post, not my place. I just wish to clarify something that you wrote.

I can completely understand you taking this strategy considering the information you were given. The next passage I don't quite follow.

So you were up to 8000 and then realised you had been mis-informed. You should then be able to alter your strategy according. Infact, you should have an advantage because of the loose table image you had portrayed. You are more likely to be paid off if you tighten up and play premiums only. I fail to see how you can corolate this into "This would never have happened if I had been misinformed."

Please understand, I am not having a dig or or anything like that. I am sincerly asking for clarification on your point of view.

What Caleb said, if plans changed then you adapt your strategy and you can use a loose table image to your advantage. I am the most laggy player on the planet and most of the regulars at Crown now this so they will stack off against me with marginal holdings.

In terms of table break down we do have a plan formalised but sometimes those plans must adapt to venue needs and staffing restrictions. In this case a decision was made to break in a different direction as we needed to clear the top end of the room so we could ship tables back to a certain venue.

I don't have much more to add than that. As an individual you have a right to your opinion Mick, I am sorry to see you leave but if you feel this way then I suggest a break may be warranted.
