The concept was Ok but lack of warning (none realy) from the regular start time of 7.30 to start at 7pm caught a lot of people unaware including Grant who still had to set tables up at 8pm to cater for the late arrivals.

Deep stack format is Ok but do we realy need an extra 20k in chips with the cards as I am sure that the amount just reaks of bad beats in the knowledge that a player will still have 20k if they lose the start stack.

Blind structure is ok except for the Ante's. They can remain but do we need $75 ante when we would all accept $50 for two levels and then $100 after that. For the averge Joe that plays in the venues all it does is wat blind time trying to sort them out not to mention the lack of green chips in play at a table to make the $75 ante workable.

I agree that the concept is workable but still needs tweeking I am sure.

75 chip antes would suck if you only get 4 greens, just make it 100 or 50, i agree with that

I think it might be best to let the season play out before coming up with changes that may or may not be a benefit to players or 888pl.

With all the talk of people punting up the $50, it may turn out to have low uptake - it is all an unknown until the trial completes.

75 chip antes are painful, with that I will agree.

Last longer is also a good idea.
May all your pain be champagne!

If you are refering to last night, you realise that wasn't Grant right? It was Andre. The 7pm start has been advertised for 2 weeks now and in every SMS sent out about it. I know most people don't read them properly but it's untrue to say there was "no warning"

Last night was a strange as we had double the number of players from the first week. Any time that happens the staff will be rushed in setting up for the extra runners. It's just unavoidable. Andre was silly though and should've called me in to help earlier. I was only watching the cricket at home after all. Silly kickboxer.

As for the structure guys ALL opinions are welcome at this point. Tweeking will be inevitable as it is the VERY FIRST TIME we have run a format like this as a weekly game and as good as we are, I don't think we'll get the structure perfect first time every time.

As for more chips leading to more bad beats, I don't really have an answer to that. Until players get more experienced at deepstack poker that may be true, but at the same time the only way for players to get more experience to play deepstack more often.

Caleb can have my job, he answered exactly as I would have.

We will look at structure tweaks at the end of this month after it has ran for a period of time and players are accustomed to the amount of chips in play.

are they really "worse" bad beats, or just standard bad beats with more BBs involved?

You don't have to marry TPKP and be there thru thick and thin for it, with lots of chips you can tactically retreat.

more chips means you also have to make tough folds when some idiot calls 2 streets then shoves when the flush draw gets there
