Now for some feedback on the event.

firstly, general pace of the structure was great. it allowed for a LOT of play and we were very deep throughout pretty much all of the tourney. there were however some pretty silly things imo.

in that sort of tourney, you dont need to have a 500/1k and then a 500/1k/100 level afterwards. similarly, having the 6/12, 7/14, AND 8/16 levels were a bit of overkill. the tourney could have been cut down by an hour without sacrificing anything, which would have been great for all of the people that travelled.

another thing that would have helped was having the correct ante amounts for each level. in a tournament where we are playing 6-8 handed, the antes should be 1/6-1/10 of the bb, but certainly no less. the levels were
600/1200/100
700/1400/100
800/1600/100
1k/2k/200
1500/3k/200
2k/4k/200
3k/6k/300
this should have been

600/1200/200
700/1400/200
800/1600/200
1k/2k/200
1500/3k/300
2k/4k/500
3k/6k/500

another thing, which was mentioned at the event, was that if people got to the break with more than 5k, they were not allowed to buy their $25 5k rebuy, they were only allowed their addon. it would have been great if you could buy that as well, and would have juiced the prize pool by at least an extra 1k.

similarly, play should NOT have been allowed whilst the addons were being bought, that should have been done at the start of the break. or you could have had a separate colour rebuy chip that people could have pre-bought their rebuys and addons before the tourney if they wished, this would have made for a much smoother process.

but in reality all of those things are relatively minor, i had a great time, and it has to be said that for renmark club to put on a tourney like this is great, there should be more.

Yeah playing during the add-on period could have been fixed, but otherwise I loved the structure. Having all of those levels in the middle period of the tourney (7/14, 8/16 etc) was what made the structure great. Having twenty minute levels instead of say 25 or 30 minute ones with a jumpier structure worked brilliantly in my opinion. There is nothing worse than having your stack smashed in relation to the amount of bb you have left after a big jump in blind levels.

And in relation to the ante amounts, think of it this way. Yes they were a little small e.g. Having a 200 ante at the 1500/3000 level, BUT I'm guessing it was designed so that people has to only ever pay a maximum of two chips or their ante amount. This made the collection and management of antes (and things like change etc) very smooth, especially for a player base that probably doesn't play with antes very often, and for a start stack that didn't come with much 'change' at the start.

Of course I'm biased in this regard, but it is probably the only pub poker tournament I have played where I have felt deep throughout, including semi and grand finals. This tournament never became a shove fest at any stage on any table I was on, and he fact that he final table went for a good 2-3 hours from memory proves that.

So yeah besides the add-on issue, it's was probably the best structured tournament I have played in. Toddy and Paul did a great job overall in running it, and for the renmark club to run an event like this where there was $1500 added to the prizepool, and to get such a great turn out (98 which included lots of locals and traveling players from Adelaide and mildura) was awesome!
