Rcon, I honestly believe this is the reason I should NEVER play on tables with friends.

It is so stupid, I have no issue being knocked out by them, I just can't handle knocking them out. Again not because we are in cahoots but because they are friends and I never like to see anyone standing on the sidelines watching the game.

Mind you, the only time I am kinda-sorta-happy-but-not to knock anyone out is if they are bullies on the table.

The aim was to take as little chips as possible from the opponent.

If it were slow playing, the end goal would be to extract as many chips as possible from the pot.

PS. I know if certain players raise big, they've hit hard too. It's not just my mate. Other players, I know if they bet a certain way, they are bluffing

Can you do that sort of play if they know that is how you would do it? Or is that also collusion?

Depends. You'd make your friend have a decision... was their flush gonna be worth all their chips? It's not like you say "If I go all-in, you should fold". They might've seen their flush being good, and called... but then you can't say you didn't give them a chance to get away from their hand (which saves them chips). If they called, then it's poker.

I may be wrong, but I don't see that as being wrong.

Soft play

Two very different things.

Slow play: To play a strong hand passively hoping to accumulate more chips form your opponent in the later stages of the hand.

Soft play: To play a strong hand passively to "protect" an opponent.

Having said all of this, I no longer have an excuse to play like that!
I do now know better and won't be doing it again.

Just because you have played for 10 weeks that does not mean I know what I am doing and there is still alot to be learned.

However, won't be doing that soft play thing again.

I knocked my partner out last Saturday night

i reckon its the most fun to beat your friends - none of this soft playing crap

2 examples: the other night at the kingy i had 77, flop comes 789, turn 8. i knew my wife had 10J, as she was betting pretty heavily, but i put on my best poker face and went all in. she knows that i am usually agressive and when we play poker i usually try and bet her out of pots, so she called - and watched the rest of the game while i made FT LOL

second example.

i had a mate from uni that was into poker but had never played NPL before. we had played online together for ages, but i finally got him out to an NPL game at the old spot. he lived past brighton, so it was nearly 90 mins for him to travel. he sat down at my table, and second hand i took all his chips when he had a full house to my quads that was fun

PS. i have a twin brother, and so we were always super competitive, but i love beating my mates more than anyone else. i would NEVER protect their chips
