found out the legalities of an "equipment hire fee" were a bit dodgy??

Not at all. In the ruling handed down in the Ravesi vs Police case the magistrate ruled that an equipment hire fee may be charged.

In this case, and after receiving feedback from players and the OLGC, we have decided that it is best to remove this aspect of tournament buy ins.

It is, and will remain, the one grey area in current legislation.

And benny the cunt, we spent six months researching and liaising with a lot of parties involved. Dodgey doesn't come into it.

Hence why several other operators have now jumped on the bandwagon and decided to launch CBI's. Simply because if NPL is doing it, we are right to do it.

fair enough

i know that NPL have been researching pretty heavily with regards to the CBIs

what feedback have you been getting from the players? 3 bucks is nothing if you ask me, although i haven't played a CBI yet, i would have been more than happy to pay it

The 3 bucks really isn't the problem by itself, but rather the 3, added to the 10, added to 2 stamped cards, it all makes for a more expensive night than usual, with only approx 25% of your outlay going to the prize pool. The money itself isn't the issue but rather calling it a CBI yet 75% of your outlay doesn't pump the prize pool.

I'm looking forward to trying a CBI event again now the blind structure has been changed, but I was underwhelmed first time around (granted, it was one of the first ones run)

From my point of view I'm not a great fan of a % of the prize pool being allocated to a future event that I may or may not qualify for, If you want a $50-100 CBI then open it up to all comers.

I prefer 100% of the buyin going back to the player playing on the night, it may even allow 2 or 3 extra players getting a payday depending on numbers.

In the Buy in's I have played in 2 states 100% of the prize pool is returned to the players, this maybe a more attractive to entice more players to play CBI's
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.
