I laughed out loud at this, you guys over there have a long way to go yet. Our entire prizepool was raised by the players purchasing "lucky $5 raffle tickets" which entitled the player to an extra 1000 chips, these were available individually or up to 5 at a time, at any time, even after elimination.

This allowed "a player" to potentially go all in and lose a total of 10 times!!!
(start stack + 2 stamped cards, 5 X $5 tickets, the Bad Beat table and re-draw) so not only was the play reduced to a sub standard/re-buy type in what is already a turbo structure, we were paying more than ever for "free roll" poker.

Kinda sad really, sub standard prizes combined with lack of interest at my only venue 888PL's service's were deemed no longer competitive or required and another league has now taken it's place (closest venue will be 50klm's away) feel like a Trudgeon yet?

Your right on one hand Ben but there will be little if any opportunity to satellite into this event is SA, based on the numbers 8% of the league is from SA, 500 is the number able to enter therefore SA will have 40 attendees. What this means is most of the satellites will be marketed toward the eastern states, SA will get the leftovers.

Yeah Chris, I've always felt sorry for you overseas players! ;)

What I don't want is for that very thing to happen here....

Player numbers in SA did not drop by that percentage but the player numbers relative to the other states did. If with the takeover of the APL overall SA player number had increased as they have in the other states then we would not have seen that decline. But unfortunately some serious mismanagement by some previous franchise owners of the APL in SA had seen it fall away dramitically in the SA market and thus the total increase to the games & player numbers was minimal in this state.

You could also put it down to the fact that 888pl has been the premier league in SA for so long (with good reason). That's why a "let's pool all the money from all States and just split it up like a robot" system probably isn't the best way to go, as it hurts your long-time loyal supporters...

Mike, from what we have worked out this is probably around the number that SA will be able to generate based on player participation. If it ends up being more then I will be more than happy. I would like to push as many SA players into this event as possible.

We are currently putting the finishing touches on a satallite series (or more so series of satellite days) that will include a $500 player capped free roll open to all 888PL/APL players as well as two buy in events & all day sit 'n gos with the aim to generate as many Main Events seats as possible for SA players. More details to come VERY soon!

if we can get 40 players from SA, i would be pretty happy with that to be honest - that is 6-7 main event seats per month that need to be generated, which i think will mean ample opportunity. if i could go to a live game once a month and have steps satellites online for weekly/monthly qualification, i would be happy with this

As long as there are plenty of online opportunities I doubt the serious SA (and Tassy) players will mind, I can appreciate that getting the required numbers to generate tickets will be more difficult in smaller states as this is hobby not a passion to most.

Mike & benny the cunt, as yet I am not aware of what the plan for online Main Event Satellites is. I am sure this wil be released soon. All I can tell you is our plan is to give players as many chances to qualify by offering satellite events at venues up until Feb 2012.
