Well yeah thats my point it was also hard for the dealer to be in charge of organising all the antes getting change for them and dealing aswell slow the game down alot.

I like Garth's new structure, but possibly with 12 minute levels between the first and second breaks and 10 thereafter.
I know the pure poker players among us like the fact that there is antes in play, but for the casual social player they are just annoying. So its good that they are not included in the revised structure i think.
Why do we need antes? Save them for deepstack poker in my opinion.
We haven't had a CBI in the Riverland yet, so i hope all these things are ironed out before we do, but Garth's new structure (with the possible changes i have outlined) would be great i reckon.

Very true. Some of this still comes back on the players a little. We're playing super turbo poker and some people are still liking to take 1-2 mins on all-in decisions. Not saying there is anything wrong with that, but when a player says the blinds are too quick and there are all-ins every hand this would need to be taken into consideration.
It helped that Matty made a huge point of etiquette at the start and we enforced everyone using the big chips first.

One hand in the pot makes it easier for all involved and stops so many arguements. It's just a extra step of the dealing process everyone will get used to over time. I suggested to everyone try collecting the antes while the cards are being cut. It works ok once you get used to it.

I found that at PGCC, one or two people generally "took charge" with antes. Some people arne't overly confident in dealing as it is let alone collecting the money.
The tables being oval as well, makes it harder for people at the end to scoop them up, so the people on the "wings" tended to make sure they were in, count them, and put them in the middle.
Sure, the dealer should take responsibility but I guess we were all helping each other. It worked well.

I think the whole point of getting the dealer to do the antes is to enforce the ONE person touching the chips method.
As it is there's usually 2 or 3 players at a table who all like to stick their mits in and start dividing chips up.
Smackies for them!
It's the dealers responsibility and if you keep doing it for them they'll NEVER get better at it (and more to the point, still won't know wtf they are doing) and players will continue to whinge about things taking too long.
I don't think it's too much to ask for every player to put their ante out and for the dealer to do a quick visual check whilst shuffling. In fact, I think it's incredibly simple.
This doesn't mean I disagree with the blinds/antes being too severe though, or that players generally take too long in the regular playing of a hand.

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

in the states i have had a few people on my table that take charge of the ante's, usually they announce to the table they are not being rude by asking for your ante's but more the fact they want more hands to be player per blind level which is a good thing

Pete - I agree, but wait until you play one, on a long table ... it's hard. As much as people should and will learn, when the blinds go up so quick and people don't even know what an ante is, it does make things quicker.

I agree with that. Try sitting on the end of an oval table and collecting the antes from the opposite end.
I've always taken it upon myself to say "Antes, everyone" nice and loudly as the cards are being shuffled by the dealer, and have no problem with whomever is in the best position to collect the antes doing so, once everyone has posted (on the oval tables, this is). On the round tables, I'll do both, after asking the table if they are fine with it at the start of the first level that antes are introduced.
There's no way I'm waiting half a minute for someone to shuffle, then putting the deck down, checking that everyone has posted their ante in front of them, giving change for each ante if it is required, then gathering them all up, and then dealing the hand.

Yeah, I'm with everyone else. I have no problem with who collects the ante's as long as its done in a quick and itmely manner. I myself took charge of most of the ante's on Sunday.

Can I please have permission to throw things at players (and there's always one) who always have to be reminded to post their antes and blinds? It's aversion therapy, not just me being pissed off at people...mostly.
