can you be more specific? :P

This is a probably a good time to point out that it's only worse elsewhere.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Important to remember, before this topic starts getting stuck into people (in a general sort of way), that everyone is completely free to play the way they choose to. Most players are just out there for a bit of fun - they're just as likely to be sick of people raising every pot when they've only hit 1 pair (or just c-betting)

If you don't like the fact they're calling stations, adjust your game accordingly

Feel free to carp now :D

That's actually quiet a good point Rcon, how many "new players"/"calling stations" don't like the way "proper poker players" play. We should all just learn to get along :D

The door was open, I'm merely saying hello and asking how everyone is today :P

More info would be nice though, such as if preflop raises were called or if/when allins were called yadda yadda yadda

*sometimes* it's how you played the hand that determines what a calling station might do... like if they think you're full of it then they'll call regardless even with 9 high or some such rubbish.

Yep, well said rcon and MNG - this IS pub poker. As much as we all hate suffering fools sometimes... it's not the WSOP we're playing in.

On that note, if you suspect someone is just a bad player but might actually want to learn a bit more... maybe politely offer them some advice during the break or whatever. If they take it away and improve their game for next time it's all the better for everyone.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

thats what i was going to say - everyone hates making a massive bluff when there is an Ace, King, straight and flush draw out there only to get called down by the pocket 2s - but hey, being a good poker player means u have to learn to play against these type of players.

disclaimer: i am way too agressive sometimes, and it means that i get smashed by the calling stations all the time - this season, my main goal has been to only bluff the players that i know have the capacity to lay a hand down, and this season it has been working pretty well - i feel i have improved.

so yeah, make sure u have top pair or better, and don't fire a river bet when ur flush draw is busted and u should be ok

That's not the exclusive domain of a calling station ...making that same call is also indicative of a very good player who has sniffed out your bluff.
