What if a TD swore?

I've had to kick a few players out of a Tourny in my time after repeated warnings and sit-out penalties. Quite often they are my mates.

Its only a matter of time before i let one slip.

What would the appropriate punishment be if a TD gets caught out dropping the f word say, at the final tabe or worse, in their opening speech?

HAHA! Great question Todd. This one touches me personally. I think i was the first and still the only TD to be on warning for using the infamous "D" word.

Late one night at the Strath there i am grinding away trying to make a few plays and win some pots (bear in mind that i had just spent all last week opening up my speech with "I don't want to hear this word anymore") I can't remember the exact details but seconds after a show down with Matty G i remember a room full of people looking at me is absolute shock, Dakota marching over and those very humbling words,

and i quote:

"Nathan! This is the ONLY warning you will ever get!"

Now you gotta understand things can seem a little different after a few beers. What i thought had happened was Matty smashing me in a pot followed by me leaning over to shake his hand and saying well played.

What actually happened was me standing up in dismay shouting, "How could call with that you bloody "D" word! (in front of all my regulars)

It was quite the learning experience. Since then i have been on my best behavior and lead by example but non the less, the point of my story is i to was given a verbal warning by a TD (in one of my own venues) for acting inappropriately. I would expect to be treated the same as i would any player and i hope the players feel that we do police ourselves as well as we would them.

Personally, I don't have a problem with swearing. As long as its not directed at anyone specifically.

If a TD swore... I wouldn't think anything of it. But you've got standards, and they have to be upheld... a warning from the other TD should do, or, if they're working a shift on their own, the crowd telling him to shut up should work

the whole swearing thing isn't for the benefit of the regular players, who feel comfortable playing and know that the person swearing was not being malicious.

it is for the person walking past just after tea, that has played a bit of kitchen table poker and is wanting a fun night out.

if he sees an atmosphere that is friendly and inviting, then he will stay around next week and sign up and play.

if he sees people swearing (whether at someone or not), then he is going to feel intimidated and not want to play.

to me its all a friendly atmosphere for beginners to want to come and play.

Yeah get em seated, next to me, let them tell me they have never played b4. Let them ask me ........ "what were the green ones again"??? And let them shuffle the cards upside down one at a time and then raise my BB by $200 after they ask if two cards that are the same any good???

i swear (and I'm not proud of it) but never directly at someone - I always swear at myself when I do something stupid.

As for the TD? Nope; they must lead by example.

I reckon bad behaviour is more of a concern than swearing. In any case, if a TD swears I reckon they'd have to grant some leniency to players doing the same.

The odd "crap!" or "bugger!" is no great harm, but all in all, swearing is just not necessary, particularly bearing in mind a large number of players are female. I might be a little old fashioned, but I don't think the ladies should be subjected to swearing.
benny the cunt Macca is right regarding the situation with new players maybe being intimidated and not coming back also.
As for the TDs, if they are playing they are under the same rules as any player. If they are working, I wouldn't expect to hear it at all.
