Throwing an ace off the table to someone and having the nerve to make their very next card another ace. THEN being even ruder still and dealing a relatively draw free board and then ace on the river!

Mind you... the aircon/fans were on and had caused a little grief in upturned cards for the evening.

The play involved a call/raise which I tried to retract.

It transpires that they will be rewriting the rule book to accomoadate the situation that arose.

that is involved.

Rule Excerpt.
Section 5, pt ii, Rule 11:
Because the amount of a wager in no limit tournaments has such a wide range, a player who has taken action based on a gross misunderstanding of the amount wagered may receive some protection by the Tournament host. A “call” or “raise” may be ruled not binding if it is obvious that the player grossly misunderstood the amount wagered, provided no damage has been caused by that action. Example: Player A bets $300, player B reraises to $1200, and Player C puts $300 into the pot and says, “call.” It is obvious that player C believes the bet to be only $300 and he should be allowed to withdraw his $300 and reconsider his wager. A bettor should not show down a hand until the amount put into the pot for a call seems reasonably correct, or it is obvious that the caller understands the amount wagered. The Tournament host is allowed considerable discretion in ruling on this type of situation. As a rule the tournament host is to disallow any claim of not understanding the amount wagered if the caller has put eighty percent or more of that amount into the pot.
Example: On the end, a player puts a $500 chip into the pot and says softly, “Four hundred.” The opponent puts a $100 chip into the pot and says, “Call.” The bettor immediately shows the hand. The dealer says, “He bet four hundred.” The caller says, “Oh, I thought he bet a hundred.” In this case, the recommended ruling normally is that the bettor had an obligation to not show the hand when the amount put into the pot was obviously short, and the “call” can be retracted. Note that the character of each player can be a factor.


Does this settle the confusion Bruce? If you believed that the action was at a minimum, just a call of the minimum bet, and a preceding player has raised the pot; if your call is less than 80% of that raise then you may withdraw that bet and re consider you action.

first lesson learnt was - pay attention.

I was in two minds play or fold having only 10c,7c I called to meet the big blind not realizing the raise. The raise put me all in for 13500 blinds 2000/4000.
So on reflection my gut feeling to fold should and could have been applied. Allin squeaker took me down.

That makes it 1-1 as I venue won playing 10c,9c vs squeaker's Qh , 5d with a flush - all 5 cards flopped were clubs. Nice trophy.
The thrill of a win out weighs the pain of defeat.

Not a problem. It's all an education process; for players as well as staff. All these new rules and understanding them will take time.

I did 6th street at swish and tried to award the pot to the player who busted a straight with a flush

Moose dealt me A A first hand on the final table. I raised all in, 10 10, called as did A 4. The final A came out on the river and Moose had the nerve to award the pot to the kid with A4.



All good though.
