Thanks Rosemary,

I appreciate the time and effort you put into these posts and thoughts.

Is there anything you find positive about the new competition structure?

Poor Peter Minca, being knocked off top spot last season simply because of one night, and now having double december topple him down again, let's just hope d.d. aids him and that the cards are kind to him.

It's good to decide a State Leaderboard in the final week, there has been a few times when it has been decided on the final night of the season in SA. It's exciting. I've spoken to Peter several times briefly, and if there is a more upbeat player I am yet to find them.

the venues now not holding npl events are buckley's and the sphinx, and I am aware the the bended elbow closes it's poker at this time each year.

These venues dropped off last season, one of them for a cheaper alternative and now there games are suffering. All of these venues are from Geelong and that region is suffering. I will definitely look to promote a few more one off events in the Geelong are as well as boosting their regional prize pool.

If the state finals were made a little more elite, players would stay at their own venues, in their own regions and play at their local venues, therefore boosting the smaller ones as it is easier to qualify in the top 5 there rather than the larger ones. and this is not a negative comment, this is constructive.

The majority of our players 60% in both state, do play in their one venue, one game per week. We want to move away from the State Leaderboard and concentrate on promoting regular attendance at venues over a season period.

let me say that not all my emails to you, garth, are negative, many are to let you know what players are saying around the venues and what they are saying to me. I send this info to assist you - not to fill you up with negative comments, but instead, to let you know how the players are feeling and what they are saying.

Granted I am sorry for my over exaggeration. But there has being very few times when you have written to me to say that you have received good feedback about this or that or that this promotion is a good idea. Do you see where I am coming from with that comment? There are a lot of good things that NPL is doing and that we are changing.

I will welcome any negative feedback or constructive criticism at any time, and more than ever in the new year. I am fully accountable for everything NPL now. This competition re design, all communications and every aspect of NPL is now my full responsibility. I have been in Victoria for five months now, last month I was promoted to an overall national role.

The company has complete faith in me to do the right thing and rejuvenate this product, which I will. But I cannot create a competition which will make 100% of our players happy. This is unavoidable.

I apologise if you construed my previous posts as negative or insulting, but this is a debate and a conversation amongst equals, and I will always be upfront and I may not have the most diplomatic way of communicating sometimes, but you will always have a direct answer and know where you stand with me.

try to get a break from 12+ hours a day, we are meant to work to live, not to live to work

Pretty hard with Brayden away on his honeymoon and Carlos' effective immediately resignation.

I am the only senior manager for NPL left in the office at the moment.

P.S:
Rosemary, I am more than willing to organise a meeting with senior players from the all regions, possibly two or three representatives for each region, and at this meeting we can discuss everything about the NPL competition and what we can do better, what is successful and what isn't.

i just wanted to add that taking away prize money for 3rd-10th for state leaderboard and adding a trophy, and the venue leader bonus at the Champs should make the state leaderboard a less attractive avenue for qualifying for champs. It still allows, but cuts some motivation

Completely understand that Bacon,

But I would like to redirect those funds into a venue championship and special events that are open to all players.

There are issues with conflicting business models between both states and although we want to keep our mega gamers there are other avenues I am contemplating to incentivise them.

I think creating a different spin on the competition has definitely rejuvenated that three games a week crowd that has dropped of to one.

Des is a great example he is an NPLaniac but the competition became too stagnant and we needed to throw something new out there for all of our players.

If I could give away a million in each year for each state I would, but we just can't. We cannot compete with a certain other provider's marketing budgets and prize pools (....... yet) but I believe we still return more to state based players than any other competition.

tlaking out the 3-1- prize money is not a gd idea i think u think like 80% people in the top 50 play 50-90 games a season. are people still going to play this amount of games now?

hi again .. I have gone from playing 6-8 times a week down to twice a week. in fact, I have not played at all in the last week, since last tuesday, and in fact, I am not playing tonight (Janos might though) and not playing sunday night. so it will be monday at the ealiest, and perhaps even tuesday. unfortunately, double december will not make me play more, it will make me play less. and with numbers in the 50's at a club where there were 80+, perhaps this is not the only issue.

I have emailed everyone to give them the details on how to get into the forum, so now you might now hear from others and how they feel.

as far as npl doing anything right ...there is heaps they do right, providing the competition at all is the first thing, and the first few seasons I played, (mostly in Geelong) the communication between the TD (Ivan) and the players was intense .. we knew everything that was going on and he took the time to explain to us how it worked ... and I could not believe the amount of prizes on offer. we just object to changing the playing field mid way through the season ... if it was announced that one week of this season will be double points ... well and good ... but the statistical nightmare you spoke of will be enough to stomp all over my records and make them appear worth lesser than they were when I won them. and changing things mid season like this disheartens players who feel their hard work thus far has all been for nothing.

the state leaderboard has changed dramatically in the last few days, in fact, I hardly recognise a name ... I hope those who were up there get some decent hands and return to their rightful place.

Nice to see something positive (albeit slightly) there Rosemary :)

Yes, a forum is a place to let out your thoughts and feelings, although sometimes hearing the good parts of the business goes a long way too.

double december does not appear to have helped hoppers club - their numbers were down on monday and tuesday nights, the first 2 nights of dd, when one would imagine every man and his dog would want to play for those extra points. I know there are players who won't play for the remainder of the season because of dd, they reckon they have no hope now of making it to the finals, so why spend the money trying. sad really that they can't still go, just for the fun of it all.

I also noticed a lot of names I have never seen before, so who knows how low it would have been without these extra players... the mind boggles ... I wonder what affect it is having on our country players and country venues.

Yeah Hoppers has lost some numbers. Interesting, considering that the majority of venues have shown a slight positive jump.

Yes, very sad.

A positive one from the people I have spoken to, this is just in the South West and Mildura, and I will be in the Riverland tonight.

Hi Garth ... just for your information, the numbers at hoppers in november, averaged out to more than the numbers in october - for this season ... facts speaks louder than rumours. Q9
