Before Krunchie wrote his post I was thinking that was the case
In order to qualify for a semi final or grand final, you need to:
- Satisfy the number of games criteria
- Gain entry
- Not be suspended DURING the qualification period

Re: Previously suspended player permitted to play in 888PL GF
But what constitutes the qualification period for a Grand Final? Semi's are easy, it's the preceding season. But the GF are biannual.
Let's assume there are 2 regular seasons in between a GF. Is that 1 qualification period, or 2?
The next GF is in March. So technically, there is games from S3/10, S4/10 & S1/11 that fall in this period. If you were suspended for 2 weeks in S3, and play for another 5 months without incident, is the punishment too great then?

The qualification period for a grand final is the TWO seasons before it. So six months.
Too harsh or not - I'm just interpreting the rules!

So is the qualification for next week's GF two seasons, or two complete season?, S2 & S3/10 or S1 & S2?
What if a new player joins 888pl on 1/7/10 (so S3), and wins a satellite... is that ticket for the march 2011? They wouldn't have played 10 games during the S1/S2 qual period.

Two complete seasons.
The qualification for this grand final coming up, is season one + season 2 of 2010.
(although I guess people are allowed to play more into season 3 to get them in?)

I think this piece of information is important and probably needed to be mentioned to give any informed opinion on this situation.
Qualification for the GF is 10 away games between the last GF and the current GF. So the period in question is between the last GF and the current GF. As the player has been suspended during this period then he should be disallowed from playing the GF.
At the end of the day though, as I alluded to in another thread, the rules that matter are:
Rules wrote:1. Tournament captains reserve the right to make decisions in the spirit of fairness, even if a strict interpretation of the rules may indicate a different ruling.
2. Decisions of the Tournament host are final.
Member Charter wrote:Any ruling made by any Tournament Captain, Floor Manager, Supervisor or Tournament Director is final and binding. All decisions will be made with the fairness of the competition in mind and impartial judgement.
So if it is determined that he has received adequate punishment, management can, in the spirit of fairness, let him play despite the rule.
Edit: I agree that it's a tough one though.

That's his point I think - qualification for the upcoming GF is inclusive of part of season 3.

Re: Previously suspended player permitted to play in 888PL GF
And not inclusive of part of season 1 (since the GF was after the start)
Regardless, he was suspended in March for two weeks, then suspended for THREE months after that
So if I read that correctly, he was suspended for OVER HALF of the qualification period.

Is this the 888pl GF.....or the Brownlow Medal??!!
I personally don't have a problem with him playing. He would have to be under a "ANY sign of misbehaving and you are suspended indefinitely" type clause though....
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!
