Previously suspended player permitted to play in 888PL GF

WTF! Garth, to bring my name up is inappropriate. This poll is not about me, my warning for online abuse was in September 2009. Since my return, i have had no verbal warnings, play regularly at venues without issues. Ok for the record (and I have permission to disclose this information now):

Player was first suspended when he and another player entered into an abuse slinging match when something nasty was said about player's relationship. Both players were suspended for instigating and abuse.

Player was suspended one week later after suspension lifted when he stood up in venue and said loudly to a friend:

"that's the biggest ****ing donk hand you played all night"

He wasn't even suspended for abuse the second time, rather for swearing loudly. So it was decided to let him play, but happy to let the masses decide.

When suspension was served player attended venue, a mate beat him and player stood up and swore jokingly at his mate (loud enough for everyone to hear) and on this basis he was suspended. Inappropriate use of language and he was on a 3 month probation.

So he was on probation when suspended the second time ? ? ?

First suspesnion 11/03/2010 - 25/03/2010
Second suspension from 1/04/2010 - 30/06/2010

Less that a week to get suspended again ....

But in regards to the rules - i see your point, but in this case I see no reason to refuse entry into the 888PL GF.

I think getting suspended within a week after serving the first suspension , IS a blatant disregard for why he got suspended the first time , and shows no respect for the league rules , let alone the people setting the rules ..

I don't think the said person should be able to play this GF , next one no problems , as long as a clean record with NO discrepencies in the qualifying period for the next GF ..

No it's not, I was highlighting a point that players have behaved just as inappropriately previously have proven to be welcomed members of the community who contribute positively now.

I Have no problem with him playing the next G/F in February , but this G/F i do .
I was suspended once , I have no prob.. with others knowing that . I often tell players online to be careful of what they say 2 others .

Seriously, he gets 3 months suspension for swearing at a mate (is inappropriate at venue, but I am sure most have done this between mates, although not so the whole room can hear it), and you guys still don't think that is enough punishment? Wow.

Fair enough he is a repeat offender, but 3 months for swearing at a mate (all in fun I am sure) really is quite severe and if that hasn't taught him to respect the rules, nothing will.

So banning him from this GF really does nothing, I say let him play and let him prove that he has learnt his lesson....

I totally agree with Harps on this. I can understand someone being banned for abusive behavior and then being given a second chance. But I do not understand a repeat offender being given the same treatment.

If you have RULES that we all must abide by - does this mean it only applies to those who 888PL choose it to apply to.

The RULES clearly state that if a person has been suspended that they are not qualified to play in ANY Final even if reinstated. I feel that this is just punishment for a REPEAT OFFENDER and I can't see where leniency should even be brought into it especially when it is foul mouthed abuse. It is not even as though he was drunk on these occasions and wasn't himself - knowing this player like I do - I would say he was stone cold sober - so there is not even that excuse. This just seems to be habitual. To his detriment he has a very loud voice naturally so he automatically doesn't get away with this sort of behavior because whatever he says, everyone at the venue hears.

I know the player involved and get along with him fine to speak to out of the poker room. In the poker room he cam be very abusive and I don't feel that giving him leniency is going to be good for other players.

It is players like this that encourage new member/players to not come back.

The punishment should fit the crime and the Rules should not be broken - bent in certain circumstances surely - but not totally disregarded.

If I am interpreting the Rules wrongly, please let me know so that I can understand

I would guarantee that most players would be horrified at this decision if they knew the history.

I was there Jo he meant what he said to the other player . Every night you would hear him carrying on & swearing @ others players .
