I am using Virgin 3G (optus) for my internet, I would encounter this same problem if my connection would drop from HSDPA or UMTS (3G or fastest) back to GPRS (same speed as dial up) connection. So i would be checking this first.

I have since found a solution to the problem. I purchased a 3G router for about $65 connected my USB to it, connection problems have stopped and as a plus I have a wifi hotspot in the house.

As has been mentioned earlier it could be your anti virus/security or firewall settings that stop the connection taking place. I would recommend shutting down all active interenet connections (MSN, Skype etc etc) then turn of all security and try connecting to 888 this will tell you if the problem lies there.

Short of the above, which I have done all of, the problem could lie deep withing the registry of your computer which while reasonably easy to fix, I would at the least contact a computer nerd friend (we all have one lol) or a computer tech head.

Hope this helps.

P.S to a particular forumer note the fantastic use of paragraphs and punctuation.

I only get the same "cannot connect" as Gundog does. I don't have too many issues with pausing my virus software for a minute while it loads, but obv prefer it not to (I'm sure it did this ages ago, then was corrected)

Kaspersky is just a brand of virus software mate, which can occasionally prevent some programs from working properly

Kaspersky is my Internet Security program, like Norton.
