Show me the poker stove results that say that A7 is behind your assigned range for Jav. Especially a range that had him shoving the last two buttons? You would be well in front (and i dont have poker stove here at work).

By that information alone, and with so few BB i would be double-fist-pump-snap-shoving my stack right in his nostrils.

Jmack? This time I'm not being a smart arse, I'm actually really interested to know what range you ha jav on when he raised from the button?

This situation you found yourself in happens quite a lot, especially when we are shorthanded, so discussing the above will be really helpful for ourselves and others.

Put Jav on a range?? Serious?? That is close to impossible.....

(He was SB from memory, not button).

He could be playing anything there (and he was). Usually, if the player had shoved my 2 previous BB, then just over min raised this time, it indicates strength (looks like he wants a call), but I have played Jav many times and he plays different. I was actually busy with other things whilst playing as well, so I will admit that my play was ordinary in that tourney.

Anyway, I would usually assume that I am well behind here pre-flop, but maybe he has KK-99, or Ax. If I spike my A, I'm probably good against the pair, if I spike my kicker, let's hope he has Ax and I hold. When I spike the middle pair kicker on the flop, my chips are obviously always going in, I thought I shoved, but as has been shown, he shoved (which to me shows he is weak here anyway) and I insta called, hoping he has the Ax. I was shocked that he had decided to make the play with those cards (as has been stated, if I have half a hand it is always gonna cost him 6k here, and puts him on the SS instead of me), but obviously happy to be so far in front, only for the usual 888 suckout to get me....

Anyway, standard. The rant came about because of what I considered a non-thinking player type play that once again got lucky. Really no need for me to rant, and it is very rare that I would do such a thing, but there were other things going on that led to that.

The reason I opened this thread was because Jav told me of a hand where I cracked his KK with 45o. The OP was about that hand, not my exit hand on Thurs. I am still curious to see that hand because unless it was a rebuy or min-raised/limped to my BB, I can't see how I was even in that hand.....

Hope that satisfies your curiousity....

BTW, I wasn't gonna mention it, but how is Jav's play of Shove, Shove, 2.5x raise with K3o a good play??? If anything, he is the one who should continue to Shove there with such a weak hand, if playing that hand at all, especially if he is gonna shove any flop at all.....

I might also add that against this player I KNOW that if I shove, I get called (considering stack sizes), so why not see the flop for "free" (ok, it costs 1.5 BB, but not my whole stack)......

Yeah this is another interesting point. He did say though that he misread your stack size though so that might have had something to do with it. I agree that it can indicate more strength than a shove does, although given your stack size he basically was committing to putting you all in anyway. I agree that putting him on a range would be bloody hard, and that he could have almost anything, which is exactly my point.

Because he could have anything, with A7 against such a wide range and with only 5BB I'm taking the race every time, knowing that your A high is a pretty strong hand here.

Only a very specific read of super strength should mean a fold here I think. Also, the reason I think the was not optimal is that your A high will be food on a bunch if flops too, meaning that your chips are going in anyway, so you may as well get them in pre
