Why $20 games aren't working. A theory. A Solution?

This is just a couple of theories,
1. $20 is too much to pay out in one hit. (There are players that are prepared to play $5 4 times a week & receive to return on their investment, but to pay $20 in one hit seems too much.)
2. It goes on too late. (This can’t be the case as the $5 games do/would finish around the same time.
3. They are on a day players are unable to play. (Again this doesn’t appear to be the case, as free rolls are getting 80+ players, and both $5 games are getting 30+ players)
Quick Solutions
1. Lower the entry to $15
2. This doesn’t appear to need to be changed.
3. Have a sort of satellite entry. It appears to me that players that are playing games with entry up to $5, they are playing either to improve their game or because they can’t justify paying out $30/$40 to play 2 games of poker. (The small amount on offer is slightly handy)
So just an idea.
In the $3 event for every 10 entries give away 1 ticket to the $15 event. Would still mean at least $15 in the prize pool for every 10 players.
In the $5 event for every 10 entries give away 2 tickets to $15 event. Would still mean based on 30 players $60 in prize pool,
Players from Monday – Wednesday qualify for Thursday Event.
Players from Thursday-Sunday qualify for Tuesday Event.
Just state this ticket is non transferable or no cash equivalentBased on the average day being 2x $3 events attracting at least 10 players and 2x $5 events at least 30 players. Then there are 14 players a day x 3 = 42 (Mon –Wed) 14 x 4 = 56 (Thurs –Sun) places generated.

I admit that this theory is only based on players $0-$5 playing to improve their game/socialise but they have the chance to play against “perceived” better players, without increasing their weekly spend.

Sorry it is so long.

Good post.

My solution would be to drop it to $10 buyin and make it 400 gtd instead of 600 gtd, still have a min of 20 runners

The problem with this is if you only get 20 runners, then 888pl is still outlaying $200. There are at least 15 players that are still willing to pay $15/ $20 to play on a Tuesday or Thursday add this to the generated players then you should have a x10 muliplier event with at least 50 players, every Tuesday and Thursday.

i like your idea of running satellites, but i dont think they should be for the tuesday and thursday games, but for the saturday games.

i think running $5 satellites to the $40 bounty game, and $3 or $1r satellites to the $25 game would be great.

I think Satellites to the Saturday games are a great idea, similar to the old MQF satellites. These used to generate a fairly large field for a $50 888pl online game. Would definitely work for the Bounty game, but you could even do $2 satellites into the $20 or $25 games as well (they could even be rebuy satellites at that level).
