No Harps, it's not, Caleb is right.

There are so many reasons why FHG cannot "merge" the leagues they own it's not funny. Think about it and you will see why. (I'll name one, the logical choice is to re-brand 888pl to APL, as this has the larger player base, but that screws with the agreements with 888.com, so ok, rebrand APL to 888pl, but this risks upsetting your larger player base, not to mention burning an extremely attractive and well recognised brand name!!!). I fully understand the dilema faced by FHG management.

But that still doesn't explain why APL are taking over 888pl venues in Tasmania, this just seems really weird??!!! :?

I for one blame those pesky Trudgeons!!!...
What?, poker without the river??, you've just made my dreams come true!!!

You make no sense Harps.

No wonder I have less and less time for any thread you now post in.

Hi Harps - I don't know why the hostility towards Caleb but he is trying to clear up a fundamental misconecpetion.

Thanks Jo, you are bang on the money with your thoughts.

And now to clarify, FHG bought the APL brand as of July 1st.
FHG has always been an operational company; as in we deal direct with the venues and employ/contract the staff to operate the role. We have two licensees; Tasmania and Queensland, that are licensed to operate our brands but in effect run their own business and FHG have no relationship with their venues and very little with their staff.

APL on the other hand was not an operational company and was a franchisor; franchises were sold all over the country and it is the franchisees who held the relationships with venues and staff. Instead APL Head Offive was focused on marketing and dealt directly with marketing the APL brand to the general public and players.

That means that when we purchased the brand we also inherited over 50 franchisees within the network, who operated their own small buissnes leveraging the APL brand.

That means in Tasmania we now have one 888PL licensee and three APL franchisees all running their own businesses and continuing to compete against each other in a smaller market. That is about all I can really say on the matter.

Well I'm actually happy to see feedback being it either negative or positive and that is everybody's opinion & the idea of a forum.
I'd like to say a thank you to bennymacca, david & Garth for clarification on some area's & Sharpy for his humorous side kick part. lol
As for me it really is a choice whether I want to play in venues now or not. Qualifying for states would be easier now through APL spending a maximum of $23 to get 2 cards filled & a raffle ticket(filling of cards optional. As for 888 is is now $29 minimum with the passports being compulsory to get a raffle ticket. Both offer state final seats for top 5 at each venue so it is back to the choice of the player.
I could bring this up with staff but I imagine I will just be told thats the way it is, if you dont like it go somewhere else.
Thanks again for the feedback & comparisons to other states.
