Grand Final DISCUSSION - August 2011

Postby wabbit999 » Thu Jul 21, 2011 9:47 am

With all the excitment created around the up coming GrandFinal and all those Satelittes now going on around the country, and those qualifying through the Semi Finals... I can't wait to hear more about this...

What are the expected numbers so far?

What are the expected numbers during the actual weekend?

Are 888 doing any special accommodation deals like last time?

Are there going to be any side events? The bounty etc...

(lets focus people, don't think I've ever heard anyone discuss the next years Twightlight Footy match series until the finals of the current series have been played (unless they couldn't make it))

PS - sorry for the sarcasim but I figure if i'm gonna fork out money to travel and attend this, then Yes I want to know i'm going to get Value for money.

All very good points.
I too would like to know the answers to your questions as am wishing to qualify (when the events are held) or buy in.

Good post Mike.

I'm looking forward to the GF. I played the first one at WAFC, but couldn't make the second one. I played at Caulfield, but then my daughter's 4th birthday coincided with the last one (Crown) and I couldn't get there.

I won three tickets for the first GF, I wish I kept one!

I'm looking to buy in, or win a ticket.
My flights are booked etc.

Aaron/Mike...

What sort of buyins would you pay for a satellite online?

$50, and 1 ticket per 11 people?
$10, rebuy? $25 freeze out?

Personally, $50. I'd have to reactive my 888pl account. (entered my password wrong too many times :D) but I can easily see myself playing at least 3 of them.

I would be inclined for either, I've already got a ticket, but as you well know that doesn't stop me from wanting to win more...

I think at present there is only the $60 - Sensational quartely thing - $2.20 qualifiers tournaments each week for this and i think some winners of the freerolls get a ticket into this tournament ($2.20). The next one is due in September and pretty sure still has a prize of $550 ticket to GF. (I can't be certain of this, at work so can't check)

Also good point earlier Dave, yep I remember my First Grandfinal well at Westies even bought in for it.. In some ways the this Grandfinal will be an end of era - the MainEvent will be a whole new ball game, bigger buy-in, more numbers, bigger prizes and lots more competitive...

Just looking at it.... maybe 60 - 70 tickets carryover (those who didn't attend last GF and maybe 50 - 60 tickets in up coming semi's (if they haven't already been converted into MainEvent tickets?) so all up with buyings 200 tickets even with Satellites. So this will be less than half of the last GrandFinal.. (Please someone correct me if i'm wrong)

And while i'm on my Soapbox... New Iphone5 is due in September and I haven't seen Apple stop selling the Iphone4 yet.

Hi All,

I had thought the team had already posted details in regards to the 888PL Grand Final schedule of events. Unfortunately I was wrong.

Qualifiers should start receiving their information packs from next week.

We have scheduled more events across the weekend and details on these can be found here:

http://www.888pl.com.au/News.asp?Action=Detail&ID=290&TID=4

At this moment in time we are looking at averaging 200 qualifiers. Venues are not willing to support in venues satellites any further than two months out and as such we will ramp up the satellites over the next three weeks.

Thanks Garth, glad to see this response. Will book my accommodation and looking forward to the weekend.

I hope to see lots more promotion of this event over the next few weeks. This event has grown over the last few years it would be a shame to see it fail as i think this is going to be what will be in 888 players minds when they look at attending the MainEvent.

Agree with wabbit 100% there.

From outside looking in, it seems as though it's a case of "what grand final?"

Nice to hear there is stuff planned in the lead up (which is basically now).
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!
