It’s that time of the season again and State Finals for Season 2 will be conducted at the Seaford Hotel on Sunday the 15th June.
This event again promises to attract some large numbers and some top notch poker skills. We again expect a huge field size for this event from the 740+ qualifiers.
Due to the expected size of the field the day we will again be implementing a flight system. This season we will remove a couple of blind levels and introduce antes. We hope this will shorten the day for dramatically as we do not wish to see another 16+ hours of play for our winner.
Half the field, in each flight, will play for almost 3 hours. Flight one will commence in the morning and flight 2 will play in the afternoon. These two fields will then recombine in the evening and play until a winner is declared.
Be prepared for a long day of poker as we do not expect the final table to commence until 9.00pm at the earliest.
More details will be released in the first week of the Season 3. Please make sure your mobile numbers and email are correct in your player profile as this will be the way we notify you of your start times and flights.
Remember that this season we are offering a prize pool of $25,000 in cash and almost $1,000 in prizes for minor place getters

Nice work Scott.
You think someone would have told me about that when I was down there today meeting with them.

Re: Season 2, 2008, State Finals!
As the Season 1 final was on a Sunday, was the decision to make this not alternate to the Saturday because of sporting commitments?
I was hoping for a Saturday event, because the girlfriend would still be overseas then, but she flies back in on the Sunday, so I wouldn't be able to play if I was lucky enough to qualify.

Sounds good Garth. I won't mind the 5 hour break now that I've got somewhere to stay.
Looking forward to it.

Bacon,
During football season all finals are played on a Sunday. Sorry mate but football has too much of an impact on player numbers and attendance.

Garth, that's fair enough, and I could've had to have made a decision on poker v football.

Re: Season 2, 2008, State Finals!
this maybe a silly question but why are the B&G players in flight one when there are plaers from the metro regions in flight two? seems a bit sill as it is still a coupla-hours drive from nuri or kapunda to seaford?
is it to 'spread the superior talent' of metro players across both flights? or is there some other reason.
(i have mates from B&G region who i though i could be playing with, thats all. im a riverlander and so will be in a different flight if im lucky enough to qualify)

Re: Season 2, 2008, State Finals!
Because we need a balanced field with almost the same amount of qualifiers playing in each flight.
Unfortunately to truly balance it I would be required to put regional areas into flight one, and I would rather see BG players up at 6am and traveling than people from Midnorth or Riverland up at 3am or something stupid.
