After another astonishing season of National Poker League in South Australia, we would like to congratulate all players who have gallantly competed of the course of the last ten weeks. Now, it final's time! The South Australian State Finals for Season 3 will be conducted at The Arkaba Hotel on Sunday the 31st August 2008.

This event again promises to attract some large numbers and of course some top notch poker skills. We expect a huge field size for this event from over 800 qualifiers.

Due to the expected size of the field the day we will again be implementing a flight system. This season we will remove a couple of blind levels and antes will be in play again. (An Ante is a prescribed amount to be posted at the start of the hand by all players. Posting antes and blinds is the standard practice of every major poker tournament in the world)

Half the field, in each flight, will play for roughly 3 hours. Flight one will commence in the morning and flight 2 will play in the afternoon. These two fields will then recombine in the evening and play until a winner is declared.

Be prepared for a long day of poker as we do not expect the final table to commence until 8.00pm at the earliest.

Qualifiers will be posted and notified as soon at the results are in. Please make sure your mobile and email details are correct in your player profile as we will notify you of your start times and flights.

Remember that this season we are offering a prize pool of $25,000 in cash and $1,000 in prizes on the day.

Date: Sunday, 31st August 2008
Venue: The Arkaba Hotel, 150 Glen Osmond Road, Fullarton
Starting Stack: 3000 chips
Blinds: 20 minutes for all blind levels

FLIGHT 1: All qualifiers will be from Metro South, Metro South West, Metro East, Fleurieu Peninsula, Barossa/Gawler and Metro North East regions.

FLIGHT 2: All qualifiers will be from the Riverland, Eyre Peninsula, South East SA, Mid North, Metro North West, Yorke Peninsula, CBD regions. The State Top 50 will also be included in this flight.

PLEASE NOTE: Changing of flights is not permitted

FLIGHT 1: Registration commences at 8.00am and will be completed by 9.30am. All players must be registered by 9.30am to play in the tournament. Tournament will start at 10.00am sharp. Flight 1 will cease playing at approx. 2.00pm.

Players will only be registered with photo ID. No ID – no play.

FLIGHT 2: Registration commences at 1.00pm and will be completed by 2.30pm. All players must be registered by 2.30pmto play in the tournament. Tournament will start at 3pm sharp. Flight 2 will cease playing at approx. 7.00pm.

Players will only be registered with photo ID. No ID – no play.

RECOMBINE: All players who progress to the combine stage will need to be at the venue by 6.45pm, seating will commence at 7.00pm and play will commence at 8.00pm sharp. Play will not cease until a winner is declared.

Chips at the end of each flight will be totaled and bagged by tournament staff. The remaining players from both flights will then recombine, with chip totals carried over, to form the final stages of the tournament, seating arrangements will be redrawn and play will continue until a winner is declared.

Flight 1 again too, ugh! Each season I've moved to a venue which is flight 2, the flights change for the region! At least I'll only be 15 minutes down the road this time and can make it home in between flights

I was in flight 2 after Wednesday night's game ... then played a metro east venue on Friday to help out a mate ... now I'm back in flight 1

Might try for more than an hours sleep this time around (I can already hear several shouts of "yeah, right!" )
