Season 1, 2008 State Finals.
State Finals for Season 1 will be conducted at the Tea Tree Gully Hotel on Sunday the 30th March. This season has proven to be the biggest yet for NPL in SA and we will see over 770 people qualify for this event.
Due to the expected size of the field the day will be broken down using a flight system. Half the field, in each flight, will play for almost 4 hours. Flight one will commence in the morning and flight 2 will play in the afternoon. These two fields will then recombine in the evening and play until a winner is declared. Be prepared for a long day of poker as we do not expect the final table to commence until 10.30pm at the earliest.
More details will be released in the first week of the Season 2. Please make sure your mobile numbers and email are correct in your player profile as this will be the way we notify you of your start times and flights.
Remember that this season we are offering a prize pool of $20,000 in cash!

Re: Season 1, 2008, State Finals
Flight system looks very similar to that used for Season 1 2007, is there an expectation of flight 2 again having many less runners?
I notice the flights finish at a time rather than a set number of players remaining (which changed anyway last time). Will that assist or hinder sorting out the size of the recombined session?

Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Re: Season 1, 2008, State Finals
Flight 2 was short 46 runners 1st season. I have taken this into consideration for this season. Attrition rates for a tournament are generally the same, irrespective of the amount of runners. Due to scheduling we have to play to a time and just hope that chip stacks measure up, which I am 90% sure they will.
We have enough seating for 400 for the recombine, I expect about 150 for the recombine at the most.
