Re: Brahma Lodge Indoor
Hi there Des.
It was a great nite and the new owners are so prepared to help make it better. They weren't sure of what to do which is a bit of a worry!!! I thought whoever it was from NPL would have advised them of what they can do to get a return on their outlay and also keep the punters happy.
Bugga, I forgot their names but I had a good chat with them both prior to 7.30 start. I suggested they could maybe put on a BBQ like the Flying Club. Or, even toasted sandwiches, pies, pasties, as most of us aren't drinkers so we have a meal and a couple of drinks.
It was a big area but wasn't cold there at all. They will be replacing the pool tables I believe as the others were under lease or something like that to the previous owner.
Hey these guys are so easy going they even stamp you up for a packet of chips or a lolly. The pool tables won't go to waste if you get there early or you get knocked out early and are waiting to get called back in.
To finish off here's my bad beat story for the night.
Blinds are $200/$400 I'm UG with pocket 7,s and was gonna raise but thought I'd see the flop first.
SB calls BB checks
flop comes Q7J
SB & BB check I verbalise double the big blind and throw in $800
SB looks at me smiles and raises to $1,200 BB folds
Now at this stage I'm thinking if he had JJ or QQ in his hand he would have re-raised my $800 b4 the flop. So I assume he may have hit a pair or at best 2 pair.
So, I'm looking my trip 7's and decide if he slow played pockets I'm dead. If he only has a pair he'll fold. So, I go ALLIN for another $1,400
He calls my $1,400 ALLIN and I think oh boy he's got pocket pair!!!!
I turn my pocket 7's he shows J9. Friggin J9 what was he thinking??????
Turn card comes a Queen and I've got a full house
River comes a Jack and I'm well and truly stuffed and drowning on that friggin river card. Why he called you ask??? He thought I was trying to steal the blinds...................for F'sake

OUCH!
I love that excuse we I make a really bad call. Sometimes its legit, but sometimes it is just 'cause I didn't really want to believe that they had a better hand. BUT Jacks with Q9 kicker? Man, thats a bad call!
