I just got a message saying that the Lyndoch Hotel games have been cancelled. Does anyone know the reasons behind this?
Cheers

I got the same message.
Probably lack of runners = high stamping policy = no profit.

Re: Lyndoch No More?
well when they had the 2 aussie millions seats to give away, they got nearly 70 runners there, from 25 odd the week before.
but on that day, they proceeded to give 5 stamps for a meal and a drink, and it took half an hour for me to receive a 17 dollar roast. i also know that there were repeated recommendations by TDs to ease up their policy, and i think they did that a bit, but it still didn't compare to other places. as a result, i didn't continue going there.
so i think they shot themselves in the foot IMO.
what did some of the regulars think about it? (i only went there one night)

Very harsh benny the cunt. Not fair at all considering that even with their initial stamping policy it was still cheaper than 90% of Adelaide venues. Just because you get used to venues doing certain things does not mean you should impose those restrictions on any other startup venues.
With that mindset I cant see any reason for myself or Matty to try and get the Barossa / Gawler region another venue for Sunday night.

Those who play in Gawler are NOT entitled to whine about stamping policy, you are used to being completely spoiled.
Pardon me, but I think you'll find that's a shovel. See you next Tuesday!

Re: Lyndoch No More?
sorry darren, i didn't mean it to be that harsh
i was talking about the fact that the whole experience for me wasn't that fun, because i didn't think they were as interested in poker as they could have been.
i don't mind paying money for a meal and a drink, but when the roast costs 16 bucks, and the stubby 7.20, i think thats enough to get my cards. i am definitely not expecting them to stamp me up for nothing.
i got there nice and early, ordered a roast which i thought wouldn't take very long
then everyone else on the table, which ordered after me, got their meals, and i was still waiting for mine. i ended up getting it 30 mins later. this meant i had to scoff it down.
i have been to this venue before outside of poker, and i really like the food and the atmosphere, but i am just trying to say that i don't think they were prepared to give NPL a red hot go.
feel free to disagree with me, but this is the way i saw it.
i think a meal and a drink for 2 cards is fine. (and yes, there are venues in gawler that stamp up for less than this, but that is their prerogative.
i thought this was pretty standard across NPL

BennyMacca, you'd be hardpressed to get that ANYWHERE near where I live, in fact some venues have an $8 min for two stamps, I've seen it, and I've paid for it...
stay away from the western suburbs of Adelaide if you think you're getting a rough deal!! Or you'll be very, very disappointed
