Hi there Ben. Yes it was good to see Roulette change back to their previous sytem. But at what cost????
I'm gonna get on my soap box now because, it did take a vocal stand from myself, Enzo and some others who were prepared to speak up rather than whinge and sook about it between themselves and do nothing.
Thankfully, Dakoda realised I was on tilt after I had ordered my usual meal and spirit/mix drink that previously did six stamps. To realise my meal fell short of the new $15 requirement and my drink was now 10 cents short to get two stamps.
To fill both my cards I now needed to buy 2 or more drinks. No big deal for anyone who can knock back a few but as I've said here in other topics, I'm not a drinker.
Dakoda returned and said they (the management) realised "their patrons" were not happy with the changes and will have a meeting on Monday to try and rectify the problem. I recommended that he makes a statement b4 play otherwise player are gonna vote with their feet and not be here the following week.
Let me also say we relise Paul and the bar staff were only following instructions from one of the partners. However, we were fortunate to have Ralph the other more sensible partner (it appears) to be on site at the time.
He appeared concerned about the numbers and what were saying. I was chewing at the bit to talk to him but my friends felt it best I leave the poor guy alone.
However, that fell on deaf ears and I decided to say hello and introduce myself. I said "it doesn't look too good does it"? He said no but we can't do anything tonite as the other party concerned is not available.
I accepted his honesty and called Enzo over. I said this guy here finished number one in the whole state of 6,000 or so, and then ask him, "how many tournaments did you play in the 12 week period Enzo"??? I'm pretty sure it was around 130 but I stand corrected if I'm wrong.
I then said, "look at what he's drinking, Coke not spirits, not beer but Coke and he fills his cards every time by having a meal buying himself or his mates a drink so he can fill his cards".
He's a lot like me. I have a meal and enjoy a Brandy & Coke.Neither of us would be here or probably any of the other venues if it wasn't for the NPL poker. And I wouldn't have met him and call him my friend if it wasn't for NPL poker. I wouldn't have joined 2 community clubs if it wasn't for NPL poker. And I wouldn't be putting my odd dollars into your poker machines during the breaks
I said. "I was a salesman most of my life and made a living from it. If you still want to retain your 140 players who contribute as much or more than we do, then you need to let people know tonite".
I'm glad to say that Dakoda did bring it to everyones attention b4 the start and that 121 or 123 people did play last night. I don't know how many filled their cards, but I know I did after I checked the reward system on the bar, LOL.
Ben, you've pointed this out to us b4. That the over-heads and addition expenses for staff and the NPL FEES need to be covered.
I realise that
some venue operators have to put more staff on to cover the venues and
some don't. But, you also need to realise that in Roulettes case, that's up to 140 more people on a Sunday that they would never have seen eating, drinking and playing the Pokies if we weren't there.
I realise it's probably not in NPL's interest to advise the various Venue Operators to set a unified $3.00 per stamp fee, or is it????????
Hmmmmmmmm,
more venues = NPL$$$$ = more TD's & TA's
more people = NPL$$$$
more NPL$$$$ = more prize money = more TD's & TA's and more players $$$$ spent at the venue and so the vicious $$$$ spiral continues.
