Reminds me of another thread.

It is players like this that encourage new member/players to not come back.

I would guarantee that most players would be horrified at this decision if they knew the history.

The problem is the potential damage that could be done to the league's reputation if he behaves badly at the GF. Imagine if a celebrity was on the table. The 888PL has a diverse range of players and while foul language may be accepted by some, I know it will will offend others and put them off from playing.

For me it was that he did it when he had already been suspended for similar behaviour, I don't care that it was his mate in fun or not.

For me bad language at the table (in fun or not) brings down the integrity of the game and the league. I think of poker as a sport and bad language is not tolerated in other sports, why should it be in poker.

Because there has been 2 suspensions in such a short space of time, I think the player should be sat out of this grandfinal and be able to play the next one in 2011. This will show everyone else there are serious consequenses for the use of bad language. Not just, you'll get a couple of month ban and then straight into the grandfinal.

I was there Jo he meant what he said to the other player . Every night you would hear him carrying on & swearing @ others players .

Ok, if you were there to witness it, and it was not said jokingly, then that is way different....

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but were there not players banned indefinitely last year, that were allowed to return to the competition on the proviso they submitted a written apology for their behavior?

I think I (as the primary administrator of this league) am in the position to decide on this solely.

The question asked here is; should this player be permitted to participate in this upcoming Grand Final, not what their behaviour will be like at the 888PL Grand Final.

We made a decision (as management of this league) that this player posed no more threat to players and was permitted to buy in to the GF, when this decision was made we did not refer to the rule book nor did we even contemplate that this may have an impact on future legislation governing this league.

At the moment we have 10 people for allowing him to play and 7 against.

I personally feel that this player has served their time and penalties to the fullest and has shown a new found respect for this league and fellow players. I would like to ask Harps and Giz if they have had any issues with this player since his return or if they believe (although highly unlikely this will be an impartial opinion) he might have modified his behaviour now.

The player was suspended for online abuse (something that was instigated by another party) player was issued suspension as he has been warned previously. Player was permitted to return and play and was suspended for breaching his probation by swearing loudly. This was for 3 months.

But personal opinions aside, this decision does breach the rules as listed (these will be edited) and as such this should be whollely considered. I just strongly believe that revoking someones entry into the Grand Final (at their own expense) is a tad worse than suspension and perhaps a last step precaution, and as such does not really fall within the realms of the spirit of participation within the league.

Why would revoking his ticket be at his expense,

If you do indeed stop him from playing this GF, can you not roll his ticket over to the next one, which he would be able to play as he hasnt had a suspension in the qualification period.
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Sorry to clarify, they purchased entry at their own expense, did not qualify via cheaper methods or for free.

Harps, question for you? When you were suspended for online abuse, the first moment after your warning/email/whatever, did you take it seriously, or think "for online, that's a bit of a joke"? Honestly?

I can imagine someone going, "ah, it's just online words, it's nothing serious" and then when he was banned for the live language, he's probably gone "Gee, they really are serious. I'd better pull my head in". I know that's how I would be.

Didn't really consider before that he's bought into the GF. He's obviously keen to play, and is putting his money where his mouth is. Would you fork out $500 of your hard-earned, knowing that any language trouble would get you removed from the tourney, and banned again? I know I wouldn't.
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become
