i would say that jmack was very lucky to spike on the turn, because with his stack size you were never folding on the turn anyway

ok, I've had time to think about this hand and your responses to it. Some people who regularly run deep in tournaments might realise why I made that bet on the flop. The loose play from me really was calling the raise, not too sure why I did that, might have been distracted (was playing 3 tables at that time). When I hit trips on the turn, the check raise was exactly the right play, it is the way to extract the max amount of chips, which it did. Contrary to popular belief, 2 outers don't always hit on the river......

From Harps' point of view, the only thing he did wrong really was not raising preflop, the play from him post flop was fine. He knew I had the 9 (he typed it in before calling me), but I didn't have enough chips for him to fold at that stage.....

I still don't think allin pre from either of us is the optimum play in this hand, and the post flop action (except for me calling his raise even though it is a min raise) isn't bad at all.....

The more I think about this, the more it does my head in.....Shoving preflop with 15BB, 4 left with 2 getting top prize....REALLY????

Yes, really. It is the correct play. Even with 20BB I am recommending open shipping with QQ,

Yep, with less than 20bb u should be open shoving if u are going to play, never raising

The reason is because if you raise, get called, then make a cbet, then someone shoves on you, you have just put in half your stack and are now crippled

OK, crippled, but still in the game. What happens if next hand everyone but you goes allin and the big stack takes it down?? You win right?? (remember it is the same prize for top 2)...

yes, but if you win, you have 40bb and you have control of the table, and you can cruise to the cash.

also, if you have 5bb left, your last shred of fold equity has gone, and you have to rely on picking something up in the next 5 hands or so or you are out.

if they are decent players, ICM would dictate that they pretty much fold EVERYTHING to the other big stack and they wait until you get knocked out. probably even aces (but i would most certainly be folding something like QQ if the other big stack raised)
