in 33/34 the don was only 26, so your point is moot. Hayden is 37! How long do u wait for a form turnaround? 1 year, 2?

Scott, i'm not saying bring in someone with a 25 now.. But if say Rogers comes in (fca of 48 and only player to score 200 against his own country), and he only get 25 ave for the series then we haven't lost anything.. But he's likely to want to succeed more, to keep his place.

Debut age of some players:
Punter 20
Hayden 22
Clarke 23
Katich 25
Jacqes 26
S waugh 20
M waugh 25
Border 23
Taylor 24
Langer 22
Boon 23

But nowadays, unless u are 28/29, you are experienced enough.. And the only way to get experience is to get in the side.

And if u don't make the tough calls for the future, it'll never come.

Hodge and jacqes both debuted 3 years ago. Give them another crack, now that katich, who debuted in 2001, and plenty of domestic runs, is playing well.

rogers is averaging 83 in the shield this season.. What more can he do, to scream out? 3 tons, and 2 halfs, same as klinger.

i agree that rogers and jaques should be given a go. and you are right, rogers is scoring lots of runs.

but hayden deserves at least the rest of this summer.

Of course someone would "want to succeed" at that level. What a ridiculous comment.

Although he failed the first time around in the Australian side, so I guess he didn't want to succeed?

Getting rid of a player, for someone who will not be any more successful, and sacrificing a wealth of experience on and off the field, is not the right option in this case.

scott, i accept it was a ridiculous comment. I wanted to word it differently, but couldn't think.

benny the cunt, agree that gilly became the best keeper/batsman, but that wasn't guaranteed.

Hayden might now average 50, but remember this is his second crack. He had a 3 year break from the national side at the beginning of his career.

Who's to say this Hughes won't be the best opener ever, if only given a chance.. Think of Boof having to wait so long, cos they didn't want to change, yet when there, he did well.

Marsh did ave 33 but it was his partnership that i was talking about... And u say taylor was waiting.. Well, there are about 4 players waiting now.. But u don't want the change.

If we give matt 5 tests, the new bloke will play the first test on the ashes, and will have had a 3 month lay off from the domestic season. Make the decision, and give them a test here, in sydney, to maintain their form, and take them to south africa. Hey, if they fail, u can always recall hayden for the ashes!!
