Welcome to the forums hawkfan.
Yeah decent question, but the good thing is that i dont think all of our good players will be gone by then. Cahill will still be around then as well as people like culina, kennedy, grella and possibly bresciano. But i agree with you that its hard to see who will be our next top flight overseas player. We have lots of players going overseas to play in good leagues like turkey, holland, greece etc and in asia, but its hard to see where our next premier league or serie A player will come from. We have some good players, but who will be our next world class player (ala kewell, cahill or schwarzer).

Re: 2010 Football World Cup
Spain Argentina and England the teams to beat for me,
I dont know whats more ridiculous
Argentinas forward squad of : Tevez, Lavezzi, Higuain, Messi, Milito, Aguero, Palermo (only non world class is Palermo and Tevez 4th/5th in that list)
Lisandro Lopez and Zarate not even in contention when they would slot into nearly every other nations 30 man squad at least
or the
Spainish Midfield Squad of : Alonso, Busquets, Fabregas, Iniesta, Martinez, Senna, Silva, Xavi, (plus Jesus Navas, Juan Mata and Santi Carzola are named in the forwards but are wingers/left/right mids)
and you know your midfield is good when Fabregas isnt guaranteed a start let alone decent minutes most games, also Mikel Arteta has never played for Spain because theyve been so deep in mids and he would play for any other nation dozens of times by now no doubt

Re: 2010 Football World Cup
the game last night was pretty boring in general, but we look pretty well organised in defence.
i think we can definitely get a point against germany, and push the others for a win.
still gonna be tough to get out of our group though, it definitely looks like one of the tougher ones

Re: 2010 Football World Cup
Final 23 man squads released overnight, looking through them now, some of the surprises/big omissions from other nations
England:
Walcott left out, Heskey over Bent, Warnock over Baines, (would have loved to see scott parker in for cover for Barry at holding mid, carrick is useless there or anywhere for England.
Argentina:
Lavezzi missed out on the cut in favour of Palermo, doubt either would see game time anyway though
Italy:
Giuseppe Rossi probably a little unlucky although Italy have alot of depth up forwards aswell
Ivory Coast:
Bakari Kone has missed out as one of the six strikers named for them, maybe a little unlucky but his goal scoring record isnt that impressive
Brazil:
Obv. big omissions are Ronaldinho, Adriano and Pato, although they were all cut some time ago
Spain :
With their midfield and attacking depth there was always going to be some unlucky people with Santi Carzola and Marcos Senna the two biggest omissions,
On another note Jerome Boateng has been named for Germany and Kevin-Prince Boateng for Ghana, so they could become the first brothers to play against each other at a world cup,
