Berri DEEPSTACK Feedback

Postby betterthanphilivey » Mon Jun 30, 2008 4:52 pm

On behalf of the Management and Staff of the Berri Resort Hotel, I would like to congratulate Matt for winning the event and Luke for the great effort in getting down to heads up play.

I would also like to thank Brock, Garth and all NPL staff for an outstanding and professionally run tournament.

Thank you to all players who entered the tournament.

I personally had a great time in the Friday night game and I hope poker in the Riverland, especially at the hotel gets some real momentum after the week end.

I would like to hold it annually and as this was the inaugural event, we had some teething problems we need to iron out.
To help us next year and future years, can i ask for your feedback and constructive critisism to help make the event even more successfull in future years.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Where was the pool table? :D

Personally, I felt that the hotel did a pretty great job, and I have nothing to complain about. Plenty of staff on hand, from what I saw.

While the $6 hot dog wasn't as hot as the name suggests, it would've been hard to have served 300+ lunches (players & staff) in the 45min break.

Next time, I'll might even stay at the Resort. I would've liked to have kicked on afterwards, but the 15 minute drive 'home' to Barmera wasn't conducive to a big session.

$6 for a hotdog seemed a bit much

Edit: Bacon, haha, great minds think alike.

I really have no problems with how the event was held. Everything was awesome - staff were nice, service was continuous and the rooms were very good.

Great to hear this will be an annual event though, I'm (and I know lots of people that will be) coming back next year!

And, Dave, if a $6 hotdog is the greatest of your concerns, then this will be a great event for years to come.

Why not hold it bi-annually? Imagine the numbers you'd get if it was held in the warmer months? I'd surely bring the GF down, and she would sit by the river all day.

I'm with Bacon and ALK regarding the (not so) hot dogs. Also thought some of the other food was over priced, specifically the hot breakfast. I also hear this sentiment echoed from many others. There was quite an exodus to the cafe across the road on Sunday morning - coffee + egg and bacon roll ~11.50 as opposed to $15 for hot buffet breakfast without real coffee.

Unsure why, but I couldn't seem to get any service when I tried to purchase a proper coffee in the morning (percolated just doesn't cut it)

Bar prices etc were great - hence the need for coffee in the morning!

Hopefully my partner comes along next time, 'cause I ain't sharing a room with Xtal & Russ under ANY circumstances! Yet again, snoring induced by great bar prices :D But that is hardly a criticism of the resort

Having table service, that was prompt, all day during the poker was fantastic!

Everything else was as expected. Felt a bit foolish having worried about your kitchen being able to pump out enough meals in a timely fashion to keep us all feed on Friday - I strongly suspect we hardly put a dent in its capacity at all.

So thanks to all Berri Resort staff and management for a great weekend, and I very much hope it happens again soon.

I've had a lot of buffet breakfasts and the price was pretty much the same as any other place - I wouldn't have expected any less or any more. All you can drink OJ is great - most places charge you $10 for a breakfast and then $4 PER GLASS of OJ!

Percolated coffee is great - I prefer it to milk-based coffee (which isn't REAL coffee, just DIFFERENT coffee!!!)

Restaurant meals weren't CHEAP cheap - but still very good for what they were - I had the scotch fillet and it was done to perfection.

I think everyone has a story about snoring ....

;)

Fair call - it is possible I didn't investigate enough with the menu either. I do know, fair or not, there was a decent number of people I spoke to who echoed the whole "too expensive" line however.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one

No complaints here - restaurant food was good, prices reasonable.
