BBQ's

So the missus and I are in the market for a decent BBQ.

Im thinking Stainless, Hooded, side burner. 4-6 Burner type.

I Do like my plate over grill, but i know this is a difficult option these days.

Probably have between 1 and 2k ( at a stretch) to spend.

have been looking at Beefeater.

anyone else got brands or tips etc at where/what i should be looking.
Does anyone know how to make money playing uno vs 6 year olds, its about the only card game i get to play these days.

Go on Ebay Krunchie my so got one that s hits on the ones around town. I'll get the site for you but they are easy to find brand new and reasonable frieght costs. here's a couple to look at to give you an idea. The first ones great. :D

any particular brand bob, and are they reliable. i have looked at a few great looking ones on "grays", such as euro grand, and tuckermaster, but for the life of me i cant find 1 review of those brands on the net, which makes me suspicious.

Take a look at them all but they are well made and go into a lot of detail especially the first one. Good luck and save a fortune m8.

Have you done Ebay b4? If not check their feedback % and read some of their replies.

I buy stuff all over the world and have only had trouble with one Chinese prick I bought some rings from.

I did it to see the quality and found it was crap so I reported him and got my money back.

Hi Krunchie,
Like you, I am not a fan of the grill so being a country lad like yourself I found a local engineering mob that made up 2 solid steel hotplates to replace the grills. I think they cost about $100 but it's definitely worth it.

My Dad actually organised it for me & based the measurements on his 4 burner as by coincidence we bought the exact same brand of BBQ going back a few years now. Because my BBQ is a 6 burner they didn't cover the whole area so I got one of the original grills (why they supply 2 grills & 1 plate I will never know??? :roll: ) & cut it to size with an angle grinder. This way I have 2 large hot plates plus a small area for grilling if still required. I have added a pic below but I am sure you get the idea... (No ribbing either re the state as the picture looks dirtier than it actually is!!)

If you are going to spend over a grand you will get an awesome BBQ !! I paid about $700 for mine about 6 years ago & can't fault it. I can also say that I have NEVER used the side burner... :D

Yeh for sure... just get a BBQ and get someone to make you a stainless steel plate... fricken awesome

my bbq. although not a dear one, has a basket which hangs/swings inside the hood. I use this to put garlic bread in, with the lid closed for a few minutes, while it is heating up and when I start cooking (sorry, not usually me ... lol) .. I put foil across the bottom of the basket and put cooked meat there. It saves trying to move the meat around while you cook the rest...

you can always move it back onto the bbq to give it a little more - that way it is almost all ready at the same time.

good luck ... btw ... if you have a square griller (my mum has one, they are old fashioned, but great ) .. you can put that on the side burner and do your onions (even a wok is good for this) or sliced potatoes ... then you don't take up any space on the plates, plus you don't get onion all over the meat of those who don't like onions ...

we also have a friend who is a vegetarian and we do vegetable snags for her ... on the side, where no meat is, no meat juices are etc...

People who don't like onions shouldn't be invited to a BBQ in the first place.

I agree ... but what about the kids ... some of them have not yet acquired the taste for onions .. and as far as vegetarians go, it is not right to cook their food where the meat has been ... just ask them ..
( before they refuse to eat cos you didn't consider their feelings) ... lol
