Thoughts and Feedback please for Season 3 Home Game Fixture

Postby Garth Kay » Thu Jun 17, 2010 11:23 am

Hi Guys,

After speaking to many players and listening to their wants I have created a new Home Game fixture for season 3.

As most of the regs on here play online I thought I would ask for your feedback on this.

To Note:

1.) Freeroll/Rebuys have been scrapped.
2.) There are only three freerolls per day; no player cap and no points for these BUT if you FT all three there is a bonus of $100US, win all three and there is a bonus of $1,000. We will prob go back to the card protector for winning as well, but am yet undecided on that - too many headaches last time.
3.) All Challenge games have the Prize Pool Gtd.
4.) $1 Buy in = 1X pts Multiplier, if a rebuy then $1 Buy in = 2 X pts multiplier.

Now my questions:

1.) Are there too many games - should we look to run on the hour rather than every half hour?
2.) Should the feature and Main event start earlier or is that a good time?
3.) Should I look to continue with the $1 or $2 buy in games or should I be looking at around the $5?

Feedback would be appreciated. I would like to move ahead with uploading games ASAP. As it is with the new poker 6 launch we might be looking at the first week of season 3 without games anyways.

If anyone wants to open the excel spreadsheet and convert to Jpeg or pdf to attach please do so.

to be honest, that new structure looks GREAT.

i want to play it now, i really do.

the only problem i have is the main event starting at 1030. that is a little too late. with a 10k stack and 10 min levels, it will prolly go for 3 hours or maybe a little more. thats too late for me to play regularly.

pros:

guaranteed prize pools are AWESOME. the structure and buyins look great. i like the fact that the freezeout games are all at least $4 to buy into - it at least generates a decent prize pool.

daily PLO is freaking awesome

daily main event qualifier tourneys are great, so long as 1 ticket is guaranteed. at the present time, they aren't guaranteed, and its a little annoying when 9 people register and you end up playing a winner take all SNG.

the freerolls no longer counting for points is definitely a good way to go - i think the 888pl play base is ready to move past freerolls.

so you get $100 for final tabling all 3 tourneys? that is pretty awesome. definitely achievable as well. winning all 3 is a bit tough though, but i can see people do this. if i was home in the afternoon, it would give me a reason to play the freerolls as well, which i haven't done for 6 months or more.

cons:

daily main event start too late. assuming it takes 3+ hours to finish, thats a 0130 finish time. i think having most of the tourneys finish by 12-1230 is a good idea (besides the insomniac of course)

my changes would be -

move the murrin rebuy to 8pm.

move the $10 daily feature to 830pm

move the $22 main event to 930pm

shift all of the tourneys starting at 11pm or later forward half an hour. i.e thet PLO starts at 1030, mike starts at 11, etc etc.

what do you think about this?

No games starting between 4 & 8.30 means it's a venue or not. Fair call.

888PL Daily Feature Event - $200 GTD - Prize column says $100
888PL Coleman 6 Max Special - $100 GTD - Prize column says $50. Are these FOREX reasons, or typos?

Love the look of the Feature & Main events.

Are these AEST?
I'm not perfect. I'm what perfect aspires to become

WOW !

How many runners are we going to get in the "Daily Main Event 300GNT" , especially with the 20X multiplyer ! !

Love it Garth , looks interesting, and time will tell mate !

I like the times myself , but agree with benny the cunt the main event may run a tad late , as i can see the "core" points chasers playing this game and the fields may get to the 50+ easily .

Bring it on ! !
When choosing between the 2 evils , I like to choose the 1 i haven't tried yet !

Chips are like burley , ya need to spread a little around to attract the fishies ...

no, as someone who likes to 4-6 table i think its about right. but definitely no more, or else it will dilute the amount playing.

Garth Kay wrote:2.) Should the feature and Main event start earlier or is that a good time?

as above, i think it should be earlier.

Garth Kay wrote:3.) Should I look to continue with the $1 or $2 buy in games or should I be looking at around the $5?

i think $1 and $2 games should be kept to rebuys only.

i think a spend per game of $5 to $10 is right for a regular game, with one larger game ($22)

I'd love to see the PLO event scheduled a bit earlier :)

Hi Garth.

The structures and games look great. I like the buy-ins being a bit higher - there is definitely demand for higher buy-in games.

I would prefer the second MQF Sat to be earlier than 9PM as it does tend to be a long game given stack size and blinds. The alternative is to reduce start stack to 3000 (same structure as online champs satellites).

Personally I find a lot of the good events (Feature & Main and Freerolls) start quite late but obviously you want to get people in venue.
