I just thought this was worth pointing out. So far at the Brighton Metro's "Ladies Day" Wendy H has played seven times and won it five times. An amazing effort! Has anyone even come close to a record like that?

Wow. That is pretty good. 167 points from 7 games, 5 of them wins... can't be getting very many runners every week. Still, great work.

They get betwen 18 and 30 runners. It highlights that the point system currently being used could possibly be improved. She has totally dominated the venue and yet only has a 30 point lead. I reckon the winner should be rewarded some extra points to reflect the acheivment. Something to think about anyway. And yes she is Roger's missus. She's way better than me.

I've thought about that, the winner of the venue at the end of a season should get something extra - and yes, I've only thought that because I'm 1st at the Willo, by about 40 points. But then 2nd and 3rd would complain they they'd get no prize, as would 4th and 5th...

I quite like the point system - I think its pretty fair. You'd have to match 2nd's point finishes too to see just how well Wendy has been playing, but yes, only a 30 point lead with 5 wins from 7 games is odd.

The lady in second place has gotten a 15th,7th,1st,6th,14th, and a 6th. All good, no DNPs. But hardly five wins an 8th and one DNP like Wendy.
Plus the lady in second had missed one event. If she showed up and got 10 points for a DNP then the lead would be even less.
I am not really complaining, but something does seem askew.

I highly agree that the winner of the season for the venue should receive something. Some pubs do it, some don't. As far as I know there is no prize for this at the Metro, but at least they are running the Vegas promotion. That's worth winning.

Wow, and she's only behind by 30 points with those finishes? I agree, great work, but doesn't compete at all with 5 wins from 7. You'd think with such a small runner rate at that venue that the extra 10 points for winning 5 times would add up by now... especially with those finishes from the lady in second.

its not really that bad - if there are only 20odd runners, its bloody hard to make up 30 points - it it was a 60 runner venue, she would probably be ahead by 100 - just as hard to catch

Maybe we should start a thread? What prizes we would like to see from NPL.
Obviously 1 million a year across two states isn't enough. LOL.
I suggest starting a thread of something like this in the your NPL forum.
Also you have to remember 150 leaders at the end of this season.
How much should the prize be worth even if we go to $10 per event (cheapest we could possibly do) then we are looking at 1500 per season, and following on 7500 per year. Small dollars I know, but that is four regional finals or one Australasian poker package we don't give away? And $10 for a leaderboard prize isn't exactly exciting.

i like it the way it is at the moment - venue leader is a good achievement in itself.

i think that if there were venue prizes, then this should be up to the venue.

i remember at the first state finals, that a venue (cant remember which) decked their finalists out in pub t-shirts that had poker state finalist written on them.

i think this is a great way to go about it - promote the venue, and also give some recognition to those players that made the top 5.

NPL is doing enough already, regional leaderboard is an awesome added extra though
