Funny Hands

Postby bennymacca » Mon Mar 02, 2009 12:05 pm

the other day, JD and i were playing on a table with a lady that quite obviously had never played at all, or at least very little.

during the whole time, she was just check calling EVERYTHING - i think she thought that she had to check if someone in front checked.

she would even say check out of turn when she was in the small blind, and fold out of turn when she was in the Big blind (did this numerous times)

she was a nice lady though, not pissed or anything, just hadn't played much, so it was all good.

im not joking though, she hit 3 full houses in the first 90 minutes, and numerous other 2 pair etc. she had 16K at the first break!!!!

blinds 50/100

JD raises to 300 in mid pos with [ad] [qh] and gets 3 callers

flop comes [qc] [5d] [3s]

JD bets 400, gets 2 callers, including the lady mentioned above

turn [as]

JD bets 600, get 2 callers again

river [kd]

JD shoves for about 1200, lady calls, declares "i have a full house" and rolls [10d] [jc]

JD looks at me like he is about to kill a penguin, but it was hilarious. we manage a wry smile to each other, because it wasn't her fault. but it was pretty funny all the same

well it was hilarious until i got smashed by her later in the day

i had built up a good stack to be on about 18K, which was chip leader by far at the time (i did this by betting 3K into an 1000 pot, and the lady was calling with mid pair etc), and she had called off about half her stack, mostly to JD and i who were overbetting EVERY pot we had a piece of and winning some good ones

blinds 400/800 i get dealt [5d] [6d] and flat call

flop

[10d] [4c] [7d]

checks all round about 4 players in the pot

turn [5c]

checks all round again - the players that i was in the pot with were calling regardless of what they had, so i was waiting to hit

river [8s]

dude opens for 4K of his 6K into about a 3K pot (lol WTF but standard on this table)

i have second nuts, so i shove, knowing that the lady behind is calling me with any pair

i just say all in, without putting my chips in the middle, because i easily had the other players covered.

at this point, the lady starts questioning why i hadn't put all my chips in the middle. i tell her thats because i got everyone covered. she says well shouldn't you still put your chips out?

i say are you calling? she says that she is, so i tell her that unless you can beat a straight, there is no use counting my chips out. TD knows how the other player has been playing, and agrees with a grin knowing that i got the second nuts, and that we dont really need to be counting them out.

i was probably a little smug when i told her this, but hopefully not rude at all.

any guesses as to what she rolled?

[6s] [9c]

oh............

whole room erupts, benny the cunt has egg on his face. not funny at the time, but i find it pretty hilarious now :D

what do you mean not funny at the time benny the cunt?

I count it as one of the top 5 poker moments of my life. the absaloute most hilarous 'sucked in benny the cunt you d*ck' moment ever. lol.

funny as a fart.

On a side note, we were playing at a regular haunt of mine and benny the cunt's with a few new players, but they were people we had known for a while.

One such player was calling of most of his chips with middle pair and was down to not much. He got AA one hand, and won the pot to tripple up and stay in it, but only after check, calling on every street.

i said 'you better be careful mate, you'll get your aces cracked playing them like that'. Was just giving some friendly advice, as had known this guy for years.

well, i tapped the glass didnt i. Because for the rest of te night, this guy became really aggressive, picking spots awesomely well and pulling off some good bluffs.

It came back to bite me i guess as he beat me heads up

But he did say 'i would have been out before the first break if it wasn't for you'

Should have kept my mouth shut!

he did have a 5 to 1 chip lead.

i had 67 ib the bb and check my option.

Flop comes 3 7 Q.

I shove all in, yoda calls with 4 6.

Turn comes a 5 and im out.

So not every play he made was good, but overall he made some good plays.
